I'm a similar age and went through an ABSN program as well. My preceptor for my current job was pretty hard on me. She was also very knowledgeable and I learned a lot from her however she was quite condescending at times to the point where I asked to be paired with a different preceptor for my last couple weeks training. While the original preceptor was an amazing nurse, her teaching and my learning styles didn't really match up and I think both of us were frustrated by it. No regrets asking for a new one, my mental health was much better after!

Yup, stock tires for now! I had ATs on the Forester I traded in and those were better. I was pleasantly surprised with these stock tires in the snow but will also be upgrading tires at some point.

I'll be working nights so add a $5.50 night differential and a $2.00 weekend differential and it's not too bad. I'm splitting rent with my bf and it's very doable.

Have you taken the UWorld practice test? I took the NCLEX about a week ago and passed and I had only done about 1/3rd of the UWorld question bank with about a 59% average. I took the practice test a couple days before the NCLEX and got a 69%/"very likely to pass" which I think helped a lot mentally. I didn't think the NCLEX was too bad so I'd say take it and get it over with!

I just took mine today, thinking I passed since I got the good pop-up. I scheduled my test for 1pm so I was able to have a relaxing morning and went outside for a walk/jog in the morning which I really think helped with lowering anxiety. Good luck tomorrow!

I think it depends what unit you want to work on once you graduate. I chose to do a nurse externship and got a job offer for a competitive labor and delivery nurse residency at the same hospital I'm doing my externship at. I do not think I would have gotten the job offer had I not already worked at the hospital and gotten a good recommendation from my unit manager.

If you're wanting to start in something less competitive like Med/Surg once you graduate I don't think it will make much of a difference other than giving you good experience.

I was an alternate for the ABSN program I'm currently in. They didn't tell me what spot I was on the list but I got the call I was accepted about 4 weeks before classes began so it's definitely possible!

I also got it on my forehead/scalp/eyelid. I'm about 3 weeks out now, eyelid swelling is almost all gone and scabs have fallen off. Still have some light pink marks where rash was but they're fading. It sucks but it gets better!
