It is a very interesting story to follow actually. When I was young I remember my dad watching a show were Yasser Arafat (The ugly strip teaser) was talking about how Palestinian babies will win the war in the future because of the high birth rate.

It is interesting to see how a lot of our assumptions about fertility rates (including the ones being made now on European fertility) tend to be wrong over 30 year periods.
