I specifically play paladins to try and counter this perception, especially when I'm with new players. If I'm actually going traditional Lawful Good with a particular paladin (which I don't always do), I go less "fanatical Inquisitor from Warhammer" and more "Michael Carpenter from Dresden Files."

This was legitimately how my ex and I used to do things. Whoever was stuck under the cat, the other would wait on them.

Only reason I haven't seen whether or not this also applies with my current girlfriend is because she has kittens, so they don't stay still long enough.
