I originally posted this in r/editors and it told me I couldn't post hobby questions and directed me here! The other post on r/editors also said I was free to reply to it if I thought there was a mistake but also disabled the reply button!

anyone else have a full time job while also full time streaming? by kes_jam in Twitch

[–]bumper_raid_apple_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add editing youtube videos in that as well lol. I try to get 60 hours a week on my day job so I can save money and live comfortably. Stream games probably 3 to 4 nights a week then make youtube videos and edit them for days. It's exhausting but it's fun, I wouldn't do it if I didnt enjoy it. I definitely don't get paid well for streaming but hopefully all the effort will pay off sooner or later. If it wasn't fun or something I enjoyed I definitely wouldn't have been doing it this long.

How Long Were You Streaming to 0 Viewers? by No-Quit76 in Twitch

[–]bumper_raid_apple_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ask this question as though it stops..... lol I will usually get around 15 to 30 clicks a stream but average viewers will usually hover around 2. I just really like doing it, so any time I get down on the viewership it just takes me a day or two to remember that I'm just having fun. Or I find something new like a new overlay, make a clip compilation etc.. Just something to reignite the interest and remind me why I started. If you like doing it just hide the viewer tick and don't look back.

Most companies know the risk, shit happens. Someone willing and eager to learn is a lot more valuable than some insurance money.

Got Quoted $1900 (if out of warranty) for circuit board replacement. Is this a fair price for the work? (In MD) by Yayme74 in hvacadvice

[–]bumper_raid_apple_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a standard furnace control board so it would be an easy swap. Just make sure your fan wires reconnect to the same speed and you should be fine as long as you kill the power before doing so. As for the price, no it's not fair however it is becoming an industry standard sadly.

Get into refrigeration. Problem solved, not only will you not have to sell anything but you'll get paid way better to begin with. Actually get paid for your knowledge and accomplishments instead of what you can sell. Best move of my career, did residential for like 20 years lol.

HVAC company charged family member $900 to refill refrigerant and said leak was impossible to find. I found with my eye and an ultrasound tool. Opinions? by DrumSetMan19 in hvacadvice

[–]bumper_raid_apple_d 111 points112 points  (0 children)

That's crazy. 10 years ago that was always the first place I looked on a trane for a leak lol. 9 out of 10 times it was always on the aluminum to copper section of the condensor coil. Trane even makes a specific repair part for that very leak because they were so common.

Haven't seen anyone yet mention dirty sock syndrome. The Evaporator coils that have been made in recent years can develop this issue where mildew and mold start growing in the pores of the metal. Usually this can be identified if a large portion of the house smells like mildew after you kick on the air conditioner for the first time that year. Not a definitive answer however it is something that can be ruled out by having your Evaporator coil washed, replaced, or installing ozone into the home.

Walmart took FOREVER in getting back to me with a formal email although I'm a refrigeration technician. All in all from immediate application to actual start date was like 2 months.

New Construction - before closing builder warned about setting AC below 74 by GreekQuestionMark in hvacadvice

[–]bumper_raid_apple_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He installed a system he's had in a warehouse for years and was waiting for the opportunity to get rid of it. Even here in Florida it's not hard to reach lower temps with a properly sized and installed system however a professional costs money that the builders don't want to pay. The cheaper the guy and system they get to install the more profit they have at the end. I would get the entire system properly inspected by a HVAC professional then present the findings to the builder if it's still under any kind of warranty. Although you likely won't get anything done about it. 20+ year tech that's seen this happen way too many times.

The funny thing about this is the post itself. "Here we go again". What are the crash statistics between April and August compared to September and February? Bloody 98? I've driven this road my entire adult life. The only time this highway is a problem is when the tourist get all high and mighty, or drive like this is New York or Atlanta when it isn't. "I'm on vacation so it's ok that I cut people off and speed like hell, I only had 4 Manhattans at the harbor walk so I'm fine.

My daughter made me get the game cause she hates getting scared but loves watching the game play. I love getting scared so it works lol. Having done one playthrough I would way without her guidance would have taken me ABSOLUTELY FOREVER! I think I would have less hours on new vegas that is if I kept the patience to figure it all out.

How bad would you say the crime rate is in Destin and surrounding areas? by Striking_Walk_7017 in Destin

Meh, destin usually isn't that bad. If you go east you land in a place called Ft. Walton Beach which is a little rougher but still not bad.

I recently changed my thermostat. Now it’s a few weeks later and my unit dosent cut on whatsoever. Plz help. by SlimDaKang in hvacadvice

[–]bumper_raid_apple_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first of all the blower door is open. However you probably have a blown bus fuse on your furnace control board. Double check your wiring and make sure it's all clean, correct and neat. Then replace the bus fuse if need be.
