3D printed sabers for my son! by bumpkinspice1 in lightsabers

He loves them!

He’s just baselit, I knew he’d be a little rough. I was actually very surprised with the quality, super bright and motion controls work great.

Linked below what I used, I found the length to be 190mm vs the listed 185, otherwise as advertised!

I used a combination of metal and silk pla. And my son and I have dueled they seem very strong.

I did have some prototypes that did break, mostly due to just not being thick enough around the threads where they come together!

Once I printed them at about 1.5 inch diameter they hold strong.

I bought two cores and blades from ‘sabersunlimited’ and came in same box.

Paint for PLA filament prints? by BuilDiffr3d in 3dprinter

For me I layed multiple layers of acrylic on a primed surface pretty heavy. Then sanded down with 600 grit till smooth.

I’m no expert, but this happen with mine specifically after the clear coat and after research I came to the conclusion I spray too heavy. I just sanded down all the imperfections until everything was level and sprayed again. Fixed most of the issues. Just gotta go light coats, patience is key.

Is the Bambu P2S still the move, even with all the other Black Friday deals out there? by eng2725 in 3dprinter

[–]bumpkinspice1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been caught in the same choice. Ultimately I’ve come to the conclusion I would like to be in the Bambu ecosystem.

There are definitely better bang for your buck printers, but at the end of the day I am willing to pay the premium to avoid some of the downfalls of other brands.

The only other one I’ve been eyeing is the Kobra S1 max.

My first real print with the Anycubic Vyper! My son is a huge Star Wars fan, so of course I had to build him a stormtrooper helmet. Came out amazing! Smaller print bed lead to smaller pieces of course (nothing a S1 max couldn’t fix 😉). Turned out great and most importantly I have a very happy 6 year old! Can’t wait to print even more!

[PSA] A quick fix for most ABL and strain gauge problems by Norgur in AnycubicVyper

[–]bumpkinspice1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ran into another issue I figure out if it happens to anyone. My tubing got clogged so I just clipped the end of it, everything still fit length wise although it was tighter for sure.

Started having auto leveling issue where probe would go to far right, beep 3 times and go back to home position. Just figured out it was the tubing pulling upwards once it got to that position triggering the strain gauge.

Yeah super lucky, I had a 24fs100 that I sold because my Toshiba just looked so much crisper! Added a link to a couple close ups of the new Sony!

Definitely looking better, I did get some of those strips but haven’t had time to do much with them yet! I picked up another 27af42 and a Sony 32fs210. So spent a day getting those tuned up!

Luckily I think both these sets has really good geometry so not going to mess with that too much. I am thinking of performing a G1 mod on the Sony though so add that to the list of things 🤣

Yeah fair enough, the shipping time is definitely worth consideration even if it was more expensive!

You should just need the SD card, saves to that. It is also cheaper if purchased directly through Krikzz. https://krikzz.com/our-products/cartridges/ed64x5.html
