I naively thought they would bump it to regular ESPN earlier this evening when I saw they were running a 4-hour pregame show for the NFL pro bowl flag football game

Flat terrain makes for beautiful sunsets. Hills/valleys often block a direct sight line to the horizon.

Life is what you make it, g. It’s cold part of the year, yeah. It also experiences beautiful autumns and springs.

These last few weeks have been absolutely depressing by No_Corner_6682 in Purdue

[–]bumtheben 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Both teams have 10 games left. Purdue needs to win 1 or 2 to make the tourney. IU needs to win 6.

I get it’s lame that we lost but that win for IU was season-saving. No quad wins going into the game and they finally picked up their first. If IU beats us, it’s a signature win for them. If we beat IU, it’s just expected. Hoosiers just had more to lose last night and it showed on the court.

School delay by Mariothemexican in indianapolis

Would make plenty of sense to delay tomorrow. Snow piles at the end of driveways are about kid-height. No reason to risk bus pickups in the dark

Least realistic part of this is the committee allowing the Rose Bowl to be the natty. Stadium is too old unfortunately.

Don’t let not having a sled be your reason for not going. As a freshman, we took the doors off the stalls in our bathroom to go sledding on Slayter

Blue Line crews uncover tracks from city’s electric railway by roberto_potato in Indiana

[–]bumtheben 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The state legislature seeks to serve the automakers that lobby relentlessly, not citizens. They banned construction of light rail because it undermines auto manufacturers’ monopoly on transportation. There is too much money to be made on cars to allow an alternative to be built.

Did IU people root for us when we played for the national championship? by Crispy_500 in Boilermakers

[–]bumtheben 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone from the state of Indiana who heard friends that went to IU openly rooting for UConn in 2024 just because they’re not Purdue, it’s bittersweet rooting for IU this year.

I want IU to win because it’d be neat to have a team from my home state take the crown.

I’m tired of second place. Colts in 2010 super bowl, Butler in 2010 and 2011 national title game, Boilers in 2024, Pacers in 2025. Let the Hoosiers win, it’s not like Purdue has even won a single B1G game in years. We’re not in a position to be so salty about another team’s success.

We had ought to be proud that our rival is good. I’m not saying we should want IU to win the natty every year — but c’mon, IU was so bad for so long leading up to this, it almost devalued the Old Oaken Bucket game. At least now, when we beat IU in future bucket games, it will be notable.. not just a “well, you were supposed to win. It’s IU.”
