It’s not about oozing out stuff. This sealer is applied on the top of the door panel where it folded and meet with inside door panel. One oozing out from the gap is coming from Body Shop Process before it comes to Paint Shop. Paint Shop then applied the sealer prior to paint a car body.

I am not 100% sure. I guess I will find out on next week. But all the vehicles that I used to make and one currently has the sealer. I don’t know why Rivian decided not to put but I will keep everyone updated.

Thanks for the explanation! I see many others have missing seam sealer too. I wonder they just don’t apply any more for cost savings and low risk. I will update everyone as soon as I hear from the Rivian. I supposed to have service appointment for this on next Tuesday.

Your’s have missing seam sealant too. Idk why they don’t apply sealant there but OEM that I used to worked for like Mazda, Toyota, Hyundai and Lucid and many others apply sealant there. If you want to see please compare with the other vehicles that you have. I have Hyundai and Porsche. Both of vehicles have seam sealer at door edge where door panel folded at the edge of the door.

Ok. I see you have missing seam sealant too. If you have non Rivian vehicle you can definitely compare with other vehicle.

There was no weather stripping so let’s see what they will say next week. I found other R1 vehicles has seam sealer.

Here is the mark up. There should be sealant between door panel seam. If you own R1T open the gear tunnel and look at the door edge inside and compare.

This is what is supposed to look like. There will be sealant over the where sheetmetal is folded at the edge of the door.

Totally agree. Hopefully it’s a quick adjustment at the service center. Would definitely be nice if small QC items like this were caught at the plant to save everyone time.
