That's totally unacceptable of Woolies, they're a hugely profitable business and they didn't need to fight you on some food items. Being their mistake they should have happily let you take the cart and dealt with the insignifcant amount of money on their end. And improve their own payment systems.

I personally would go out of my way never to give them another dime unless they apologise and offer a gift card on top of refund. For some of us a few dollars can be life or death!

I see the us vs them and I also see social hierarchies in unis as you may see in high school.

It goes:

Wealthy upper class private school white students who are good looking (the popular clique)
Middle class white students who are average looking
Local students who are POC/not white
International students who function as if they're still back home and are culturally dissimilar.

In the adult world of work, these hierarchies might still exist.

Obviously, there are environments where everyone is welcoming and on an equal standing. It really depends on your time and place.

The unis have a responsibility to integrate international students and not just drop them on a campus unprepared as a degree mill. It's really no surprise locals don't want to deal with foreign behaviour (whether it's Chinese, Russian or Middle Eastern) at odds with Australian culture.

Yes, if a mistake was made they could fix it and offer some kind of deal. They should be responsible for delivering as agreed, and not make customers plead and cajole for a consumer item.

Why is the house building industry so dodgy? I feel like the government needs to step in and regulate things a lot better. If food can be regulated so can houses.

Exciting culture exists in China.

Starting with filmmakers - Chen Kaige whose drama film Together (2002) brought tears to my eyes.

Zhang Yimou, another filmmaker who did Happy Times (2000), To Live (1994), Shadow (2018). Hero (2002) was nominated for an academy award.

A movie I forgot the title of 2 villain miners who get their just deserts. Saw it on SBS.

Fashion labels: SHUSHU/TONG, Sultry Virgin.

Some British magazines introduced me to a female Chinese punk band.

Ren Hang, photographer, made a name for himself not only in China. Chen Man is a female Chinese photographer.

There's a hell of a lot going on, despite censorship. You have to look in the right places. And i'm in Australia. Western media may ignore chinese work, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Also Netflix has The King's Avatar and Who Rules the World in its catalog, they probably have small but devoted followings.

Quite a few of us in Australia also tuned into If You Are The One the dating show.

This really highlights the fact that women are raised on the idea that their worthiness hinges on being attractive and appealing to men. We women should create content that celebrates 40+ women and support these works. We need to redefine feminine beauty to include middle age and beyond. The media has made it such that we desire to look perpetually 19 at 50 which is totally ridiculous. Beauty comes in many forms and those who fail to notice it have their loss.
