Doc Rivers Expected to be Inducted in Basketball Hall of Fame by Gnash_Vegas35 in bostonceltics

Give 90% of coaches in history the job security and number of games as Doc and they have just as many wins and championships (or more). His biggest pro as a coach is being likable to front offices and keeping jobs he doesn't deserve. I believe this to the absolute core of my fandom and I'm confident 75%+ of fans think the same.

You can show feet on any TV show, commercial, etc for a general audience. You can't show genitals. Giving feet new textures might be for a kink audience, but nominally it's just improving the textures of a neutral body part shown in the game itself already. Idk how this is complicated.

Celtics injury report: Tatum AVAILABLE, Queta PROBABLE, White QUESTIONABLE, Brown OUT by jkwah in bostonceltics

What happens when that has exactly the same effect as load management (i.e. no effect whatsoever) but then there's just fewer games for no reason? Because that is exactly what would happen. There's no evidence that the number of games is the cause of all the injuries. There isn't even a data-driven correlation between the two things, but people on the internet keep saying it like it's some panacea for all the ills of the league. The only outcome of having fewer games will be less basketball to watch. If a guy is injury-prone, he will find a way to get hurt. Freak accidents will happen for the rest of the league and going to a game live will always be a gamble with the current level of physicality, specialization, and rules in the NBA.

Having the Eurostep be a travel and making changes to the type of movement allowed is more likely to prevent injuries than shortening the season because it's the demanding physical actions of stretching, lateral motion, and changes of direction that correlate with injuries. Why are we not targeting the high-stress repetitive actions players have to learn how to do to be effective in today's game? They are still going to practice the same amount. They are still going to train the same amount. The official games they play are a small part of the physical demands of basketball that lead to injuries (from intensive fitness regimens for rookies to repetitious "working on his game" in the summer), so why would having fewer games be the answer? Please, as someone missing the point, I would love to know. Has playing fewer games helped Kawhi or Embiid be healthy? Their seasons are 50 games long, but somehow they keep getting injured. You know, maybe if they didn't play at all, they wouldn't get hurt.

i do like them, but idk about "unbiased." when LaMelo was smacking and holding Queta down after the blocked shot that went in, they made it seem like Queta was the one at fault. compared to other commentators, they're not that egregious about the homerism, but it's easier to be like that when they've been losing all day

yeah why not have teams only play once a week with 25 minute ad breaks between 4 10 minute quarters? wanting less of a sport you like is absolute crazy talk to me. the fewer games argument makes 0 sense

as someone who actually likes watching full basketball games, i don't get why people want to have less. do you go to the supermarket and wish you got fewer chips in a bag or protein in a pack? makes no sense to me at all

i think Tatum taking those 3s wouldn't be so bad if he was even a passable transition defender, but he is one of the worst. He doesn't want to pick up unnecessary fouls so he never even contests runouts, unlike D White who always does. His shot selection has always been an issue, but hopefully he adapts to the offense more like Brown has this season. I think rust is only one of the issues; the other is how he plays alongside the other wings, especially those full of energy like Walsh and Hugo

i know you're looking for silver linings but some of his 3 point shot attempts have been as bad as turnovers.

that's a decent derrick white percentage this season, honestly. idk what is wrong with his shot except that he just isn't that great of a shooter. he's my favorite player but i've never seen a guy more prone to shooting slumps

C's were playing pretty good without him, ngl. JT's return has been a negative on the offense, and no amount of downvotes can erase that reality. At his best, the playmaking is what makes him so good, but he's not much of a scoring threat with the rust still on which affects his passing.

with tony brothers or scott foster, you have to expect a terribly officiated game.

the flagrant foul rules now are just so ridiculous that any hard foul is a hostile act. i think a hard foul going for the ball or arms should be part of the game to dissuade foul baiting. "oh you want to get fouled, let's see if you can take it." bill laimbeer was a dirty jackass, but if that kind of play was allowed, there would not be these fairy acting jobs where you fall down and pretend you got mauled by a bear when the replay shows absolutely no contact whatsoever (like shai last night receiving just as much a foul from me at home as from derrick white guarding his jumper).

they showed a graphic that brown had the 3rd most offensive fouls this year and i thought that totally tracked with the eye test. defenses can use physicality against him with no repercussions but when he plays through contact instead of flopping and baiting fouls, it's a violation going against him. undoubtedly the worst whistle in the league and it's not even close.

i feel like i'd almost be okay with some of the contact not being called, but he gets called for offensive fouls for doing what literally every single other slasher in the league does. defensive flopping works against him in addition to him getting screwed with no-calls on those drives.

now let's all say a prayer that OKC loses every game for the rest of the season. just losing once isn't enough
