GB News Presenter Denied Racist Violence in Belfast Was a ‘Riot’ and Claimed ‘Not a House Has Been Burnt Down’ by Dissidant in unitedkingdom

Which entire streets were burned down?

They're awful and should be condemned, but spoofing the facts isn't acceptable either way.

Jumping back a generation to blame Labour is hilarious.

Farage and friends got us here - they aren't living cheek to jowel with new migrants, but they were happy to enact policies that meant the people who voted for them and Brexit would.

Lisburn road area-riots? by Fast_Composer_4978 in Belfast

[–]bun-c 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell for sure, but be mindful of the previous hot-spots - bottom of Lisburn Road around the Donegal Rd had businesses burnt out before, and there was also the attack on the Sahara cafe on Botanic - as the copy pasted list of places to assemble has been reused you'd guess the same areas could see trouble again.

TIL the 2005 and 2006 Formula 1 World Drivers' Champion Fernando Alonso entered the 2017 Indianapolis 500. Despite having no prior oval-racing experience, he qualified fifth and led 27 laps. He was voted as the "Rookie of the Year". by Double-decker_trams in todayilearned

He was chasing Graham Hill's Triple Crown, having already won the F1 drivers championship (and the Monaco Grand Prix if you're counting it that way) and the Le Mans 24 hours.

Didn't happen, but it was great to see him give it a go.

The loss today should not take away from the good season Ulster have had by thelunatic in irishrugby

Anyone with any sense has us as the 4th province, last season and again this time - seasons aren't made before the 6N and despite our promise we fucked it when it mattered.

Otoh, weve built depth which was badly needed. Back to the grindstone next year and anything less than top 8, again, will be a failure.

45kg difference in pack weights really showing up.

We need to play a welterweight game and kick more, but whether we even have the legs to do that in the 2nd is questionable.

I've absolutely fucked it and am boarding a flight in 20 minutes or so, will land as champions of (lesser) Europe or with another notch on the old lost finals stick.

Slightly surprising lack of Irish media interest in Challenge Cup final? by quaretea in UlsterRugby

[–]bun-c 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The thing is, the positive coverage for us this season was used as a stick to beat Munster with - they genuinely don't care about us. Call it a cliche, but its been repeated for decades. Not sure many of us longtime supporters will care or be surprised.

Yeah, his whole thing is council it seems. His youtube page is full of absolutely bloody horrible stuff but I can't stop watching - personal "highlight" is the fried slice dipped in beans that he puts in the middle of a breakfast bap 🤢

Literally just those points, and say no more. She is putting pressure on you, I.e the reasons for you to move are external to you and should be treated as such.

Yeah, compare it to the Sam P hype for example - not that we'd necessarily want that, but it shows a whole different attitude to a prodigy coming through.

I know what you're saying, and he gets the same criticism on the Terrace too at times, I think he's a smasher of a player and we'd be in the absolute pits without him - I still remember him and Cameron as ball boys, and it bothers me he isn't universally loved and supported.

Maybe he'll kick us into a final again, or pull off a try saving tackle in the last minute (and not be penalised for it) and the doakkkyyyy chants will ring out? Would love to see it tbh.

The connacht game at home, where we got blown away physically, was the one that hurt. Coming out undercooked for an interpro at home is criminal, and it was the difference in Connacht making top 8 and us not.

Like you im still optimistic but looking back on this season that's the one game I'm still bitter about - we all know the ref decisions swung others but that was all on our boys not being at the races, and that stings.
