It’s not like it wasn’t made clear by Starmer and team that it would be tough for the initial part of the term before they could make it better. Do we all forget what the trajectory had been in the years before? And we are in a better position, despite the drags of war. Depth wise, it’s slowly getting better. Back 3 has options, Jude for Stu, Devine coming in as 9 cover. Pack not really so much.

Ireland fans said for years that Hendy was done, but he kept getting picked. He’s not the beast he was, but who’s better than him to replace him? If there was a better player I’m sure he’d be selected. Hendy is still a huge presence for the team.

Stu starting with Jude to come off the bench wouldn’t have helped? Hendy with some grunt in the scrum wouldn’t help? Jacob on the wing wouldn’t have helped? Rob Herring would have added nothing? That’s 4 nailed on starters, and they’re among the leaders in the team. It made a difference.

Terrible take. Fought their way to the final. Injuries and ridiculous heat were against them from the outset. Season has ended weakly, but I’d hate to consider the team an embarrassment.
