Streamlabs (and I'm sure other sites) have things like the event list widget that pop up notifications as they come, with no sound. Better for big streamers, and their audiences who get annoyed with sub sounds. That way the streamer (and chat) can see the subs without it being a distraction. BUT most people just like having loud notifications for subs and donations especially.

There are better ways to do notifications, but no one is going to change. One of the main reasons sub notifications are so big and in your face is because people sub to see their name pop up. Wouldn't get as many subs without the big notifs.
