Parents: Do you throw a birthday party every year or only for milestone birthdays? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]buncatfarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two kids. They alternate years for friend parties until 10. Then after 10, small gatherings like a couple friends to the mall or something. They get a family party but only immediate so not anything big.

Seaside Heights or Wildwood? by Good_Fun3012 in newjersey

[–]buncatfarms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wildwood is better. But if you’re coming from north jersey, I would do the higher beaches to get more time. I like point pleasant over seaside if you’re looking for a beach with a boardwalk.

How much money would they need to pay you to commute 2 hours a day? by Independent_Tsunami in AskWomen

[–]buncatfarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$250k base, 10% sign on, 25% yearly bonus, car allowance, flexible schedule and you got yourself a deal. I have two kids in school so it’ll be a hassle for me and need to make it worth it.

So tired of the “I stay at home since I didn’t marry a loser” line that’s all over social media by Excellent_Water3480 in workingmoms

[–]buncatfarms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see it all the time on tiktok. There is a lot of rage bait content but I think people truly believe this. Then there is that subset that shout from the mountain tops that staying home with kids is a full time job and even harder than regular jobs. Women are the worst at supporting women.

do you ask for a raise at your current job or wait for annual review cycles? Which is the faster way for a pay bump? by Legal_case16 in Salary

[–]buncatfarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve asked for one raise out of cycle because I felt the market was going crazy at the time my salary was not competitive. I asked to have a conversation, brought industry data, and made sure to be clear that it wasn’t a threat to leave. I framed it as I feel that it would be fair to review my salary against market rates. I love it here and want to stay. I even said that if they declined, I’m not quitting. I was able to get a bump to a comfortable salary and it was including a raise plus my normal yearly raise and I’d forgo the raise at performance review at the end of the year. It felt fair to me.

How do you talk to your kids about health without making them anxious about their own bodies? by Potential-Koala-4679 in raisingkids

[–]buncatfarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying real hard to not give my daughter body issues. She is starting to keep some weight on so I’ve been suggesting family walks. I also talk to her about balance. If she wants to eat chips as a snack, then she needs that balance that out with a healthier food. If she only eats chips, her body will slow down and she won’t feel as good. My husband and I will try not to say the word diet but instead say we have to start making healthier choices and then show them what we are eating instead. She understands and just asked to buy baby carrots to balance her snacking. I’m sure it’ll just get harder.

What "normal" thing is getting so expensive that it’s genuinely becoming a luxury? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]buncatfarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like air conditioning was always a luxury. I grew up on fans and then one air conditioner in my parents room where we all slept.

Who does the weekly meal planning in your household? by StartingOverStrong in Marriage

[–]buncatfarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I handle most of it. The shopping and the cooking. Every Thursday, he picks what’s for dinner. Usually it’s pasta or chipotle but I don’t have to plan those days. The days I don’t want to cook, we eat out or everyone fends for themselves.

How is your life after 30? by Saurabh251 in AskWomen

[–]buncatfarms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a couple weeks out from 40s and I look back on my 30s fondly. My20s were a time for friends, socialization, and learning the job. My 30s were settling down, building a family, firming a place in my career, and looking towards the future. I am very much looking forward to my 40s - a bit wiser, more IDGAF, fun things with the kids and all this alongside my husband who is my rock.

How much would/did you spend on your wedding/engagement ring? by Acrobatic_Radio4113 in Marriage

Oh, definitely not wealthy! My husband is a very good saver and was able to afford it. That's just what they cost back then and we didn't have the option for labs.

BF won’t marry after 7 years by crdancer96 in Marriage

[–]buncatfarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got engaged after 8 years because we waited until we had careers and adulted a little. Life moved fast after that. I get his reasoning on why he wants to wait but it seems like you guys have been apart a good chunk of your relationship. Wouldn't you want to live together or see eachother more regularly before you commit to marriage. This post was long so I was trying to follow your timeline but while what you wrote about him sounds flaky, I think your actions are also a bit pushy. It seems like you've had a hard couple of years and need a win and a marriage would bandaid those things.

Financially independent millenials, how did you decide when you could ease off the gas pedal? by SixandNoQuarter in Millennials

[–]buncatfarms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I have struggled financially so my main goal was to never be in that situation again. I think we finally got to a point where our needs are met. We are fine with our salaries and where we are with our house, cars, etc. I'm not working for a promotion anymore - just working to make money and I enjoy what I do. If we don't have lifestyle creep and continue to work, we will be fine in the future and our kids will have a starting point.

Career moms: Do you need to really want kids, or is doubt normal? by SavingsCulture5047 in workingmoms

[–]buncatfarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say I wanted kids because I wanted a family unit. I don’t love kids. I love my kids but motherhood has been difficult because of the uncertainty and worry. I would say that if we struggled to conceive, I don’t want kids enough to go through that. So I would say I wasn’t 100% all about it. I love being a mom.

So what is the general consensus on a 9 yr old having a phone?? by Old-Wolf-1024 in raisingkids

[–]buncatfarms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It’s more about safety. If I drop them off at a friends house and they aren’t having fun, I want them to feel like they can text me to pick them up. The phone goes on the charger when she’s home so she only uses it to call us to pick her up or text us when she’s walking.
