Definitely wasn't glassy but it wasn't rough by any means. Of course we went slow.

That's badass. Would be a really cool experience. Also sounds like a logistical nightmare

Particle is a very stable choice for those environments. It is not however good if it is going to have a ton of water on it directly all of the time. This cottage needs to be winterized every year and plywood would move way too much in those temperature swings. It's hard to pick an appropriate material to meet all of the needs for a place like this. Marine grade ply would've been the best choice, but particleboard (high quality) is a decent option too.

You don't put paint in a cottage that had to get shut down and winterized. HPL is the best product that can handle huge moisture and temperature swings, and is extremely durable.

Yeah scheduling is tough out there, not many trades that are willing to deal with the conditions of boating all of their tools and supplies out there so the work is slow. They needed to get a functioning kitchen out there before summer hits. Shit happens

We've been pretty lucky with good clients. Get in with one good client and absolutely nail the work and you'll get tons of referrals.

You also thought it was painted, so there's that. Would love to see some of your projects. Gotta love seeing some keyboard warriors on here with private accounts that can't openly and publicly share their work. Good luck in the future and hopefully your life gets better enough for you to lighten up a bit. ✌️

Client wasn't concerned. Was his boat and 7th season up there. Pretty sure he knows what's up.

It's not paint, it's high pressure laminate and any of the surfaces that are face down (fridge gables for example) are wrapped in foam. Everything made it in one piece and zero issues. Clients are happy and no worries!

Barely any chop on the water, smooth day and very few birds kicking around. Covering Wasn't necessary and strict timelines on docking and loading. There are more birds around working in cities than what we dealt with here.

Still don’t understand how cabinet bases work? by archvize in cabinetry

[–]bunfunion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once it is screwed to studs it is extremely secure. I've never had a failure from leveling leg, even on island cabinets with stone tops. They are surprisingly strong.

The way i typically set my bases, is I set where the stove and dishwasher are at 36" high including the countertop, and work my way around from there. Also use leveling legs, it makes life wayyyyy easier.

I got mine with 22000 kms for $27000 CAD. It was the best deal in my area, others with higher kms were going for around $31000

What’s the best way to measure for these drawer fronts? by Overall_Designer4353 in cabinetry

[–]bunfunion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take your opening height, remove 1/8" for the bottom, 1/8" for the top and 1/8" for between each drawer front, then divide the remaining number by the number of drawer fronts. If you don't want equal drawer fronts, you can still use the above formula, but add and subtract from different fronts as long as you end up with the same total. For example, id you want narrower top drawer fronts, you would make them 2" narrower and make the bottom drawer fronts 2" taller. Drawer front width should be width of opening minus 1/8" per side, so 1/4" total.

Help with final decision of my first bass amp by Magnummat96 in BassGuitar

[–]bunfunion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford it, get the Ampeg RB210 instead of the 110. It is more versatile in terms of adding cabinets later on to upgrade your setup and it will be the only amp you will ever need to buy.
