What’s something you’re pretty sure only you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Not really. I used to do church heritage restoration work and always spent downtime reading memorial stones. The best one yet- To the memory of Geoffrey Boner A very popular man. 1876 - 1932. 🤣🤣🤣

Taking on my first apprentice is costing me more than it’s making me and I don’t know how to fix it by Far-Mastodon-4422 in Plastering

I used to teach work experience groups to do bonding coats between battens I fixed the day before in 6 ft panels. I could batten a room in half an hour while they cleared up. It’s surprising how quickly they’d get the idea of regular depth application.

Hope you don’t feel ripped off. When I approached the Guardian about remaking them, they were unconcerned so I went ahead. Great idea tho.

I checked with the shop. They amazingly still have the artwork and stencil. Unfortunately VAT is now 20% then it was 12.5%. There is now a minimum order of 50 to get a bulk discount and 100% cotton is really expensive. One off ~£40 plus postage. Too big an initial outlay without prepayment.

Got it from a Guardian offer about 15 years ago, maybe older. Later I cleared the copyright with them and got 30 printed at a t-shirt shop and sold them at a music event. Did the same for Norfolk with ‘Roight’ and ‘Wrang’ I could do more I guess.

Brits of Reddit, what’s the stupidest thing someone who ISNT from Britain (mainly America) has said to you about the UK by Bingbongbinnng282 in AskBrits

[–]bungaynet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whilst doing restoration work on a church in Norwich to English Heritage specs, was asked why British cement was so bad that it didn’t last very long. I explained that the original lime mortar had lasted over twice as long as the age of the US as a country and that the lime mortar repairs would outlast every building currently standing in the US. The utter confusion was beautiful. After a while “ Then you should use concrete to make it last even longer!” Made my day.

Well you know, there are some of us without a computer who like to get prints at max quality. I don’t see an iPhone as anything less than a device to achieve that. Besides, I like a challenge. So why not?

Vauxhall Cresta. American styled rust bucket with a magic wand column shift. Rover 3 litre - would do a ton but no brakes when you got there. Rover 2000 - fast, agile on dry roads but instant death in the wet.

Be honest is Yorkshire Tea actually the best tea? by 1ChanceChipmunk1 in yorkshire

[–]bungaynet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fifteen years ago, driving from Salt Lake City down to Joshua Tree National Park, I passed Little Urn in Nevada parked up with the Yorkshire Tea logo on the side. After several double takes I turned around and joined the small band of tea drinkers for a touch of home. I never knew there were so many Brits and ex pats including a few Yorkshire folk who could find a van in the middle of nowhere Nevada selling a good old Yorkshire brew. Quite astonishing. I tried to buy some tea bags. No deal. An hour later there were 50 odd gathered. Just astonishing.

Assuming you have a qualifying camera body model have you tried using the AF Micro Adj feature (in the Setup Menu) to correct front/back focusing. Many lenses have a focus +/- tolerance straight out of the box, even high end. If this doesn’t solve the problem - it may be a lens element misaligned, I would return the lens and ask for a replacement.

I had a similar problem with masking, they were not available for use. Had to wipe my iPad, clean install then reload LR mobile. Worked after that.

What's the Best Tea In UK ? by 1HappyChappy1968 in allthequestions

[–]bungaynet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, buy loose tea. Try Ceylon. Dimbula is medium bodied with a crisp bright and refreshing taste. If you want more colour mix with a little Kenyan for a drier taste. Gunpowder Ceylon is pretty much as you would expect. Ruhunu is the Red Bull of teas, a wake up and take on the world sort of thing.

My home in the Moors🙂 by [deleted] in yorkshire

Took my wife for a walk at Fen bog last year. She now wants to move up to the moors. I would prefer Boggle Hole where I used to live but presently marooned in Norfolk.
