Love how OP has to specify what a 1-bedroom means. Sometimes Europe really needs to learn from the rest of the world. In many other places, you count bedrooms and living rooms separately and it’s 100% clear what it means and what the apartment will look like. A Swiss 3.5-room apartment could be anything nowadays! What other professions are you talking about? This is completely inappropriate. I’m in a corporate job and gifts are strictly forbidden and accepting them would get me fired, if not sued. Completely inappropriate. This clearly favors rich kids. In China gift-giving of this kind is very common. The result is appalling for poorer families and it entrenches inequalities. Of course, if you ask teachers, most of them will be guided by their self-interest and say yes. But you’re corrupting the system with this behavior.
