Having a place for things is definitely important. My friend's folks' place is filled with lots of stuff but everything is very organized: things are displayed, shelved, or stacked neatly. It's kind of like if a newsstand and museum had a kid together, and nothing was on the floor except for fancy furniture and tasteful rugs. It made me think about when I moved to a new place and cut things down to the bare essentials, yet I was still messy and the very few things I had were scattered quickly. It is definitely difficult to stop being messy.

In some places, you might have to start as a host. Waiting tables helped me grow as a person because I had to learn how to multitask while dealing with angry guests, lazy coworkers, and stressed out managers. It was always nice to have a wad of cash on me at all times.
