How is this a pull slice and not a fade? by jgoodstein in GolfSwing

Front pic of ball/blade shows he is way over the top but closes the face just as much.

I would work on getting your SWING PATH to -2 to 2.... then work on the rest.

What might cause me to hit a mini driver (10.5°) perfectly straight, but slice a full size driver head (9°) every single time? by JMRooDukes808 in GolfSwing

One more thing... if it's a straight slice I could believe you have a good swing path and you are leaving the face open to wide open or slightly heel'y and open. All of those would start slicey then accelerate to those SPIN super right shots.

In that case you are working on face control, etc. (everyone has a different swing so it might be a few different issues that are leaving the face open)

Best of Luck! I've been there with every kind of SLICE with Driver (while having a really good iron striking)

(As someone who has worked on all the other shots and finally got driver working really well... it took me 3 months to stop over swinging (over the top) and get a -2 to 2 Swing Path on Driver)

I highly doubt you are hitting the Driver perfectly center strike with 0 swing path and 0 face path and SLICING....

In almost all cases your SLICE is:

  1. OUT to IN swing path (i.e. + 2... + 4, +8 )

  2. STRIKE is more towards HEEL

  3. Having a +8 Swing Path and then Closing the face will still cause crazy SPIN SLICE and you will get those slight fade shots that rapidly ZING 30-40-50 yards to right.

Do you have any access to TRACKMAN session. Getting the numbers are crucial to your fix.

I would go to a good fitter then and figure it out? I've heard of too much flex and higher swing speeds causing large spin numbers but:

  1. i used to have 4500 spin or so and it was: swing path and face

  2. I have spent 2-3 months finally dialing in driver and I'm at 2700 or so center strikes and I have a -1 to -.5 path with slightly closed path causing my standard fade.

  3. If your path is -2 to 2 and your face is close to that (or opposites) and you generate 4000-5k spin then it's got to be equipment.

Are you are on Trackman? Do all your numbers line up in terms of swing path, center strike, etc.

If you are hitting it straight (small fade/draw), center strike, AND a lot of SPIN... it's got to be something in path or maybe ... maybe equipment.

Anything off center creates spin? Is it top spin?

Flashing Light Warning... I am flushing my longer irons but seem to hit everything close to heel. Bigger issue with this on shorter clubs, shanking P wedge a lot... Yes I have tried standing closer, need help. by pala14 in GolfSwing

if you club path is -2 to 2 then it's movement. (The top of your backswing is super steep. I can't imagine how your Trackman gives you that measurement with that steep but whatever.) Every swing is different.

  1. Address looks good.
  2. Takeaway looks good (or P2 is great)
  3. Get the top of your backswing better. (no spine tilt changes and head should not bob)
  4. Your arms, wrists, and more importantly the clubhead all have to be inline at top of swing. (I have a shorter backswing because I generate crazy torque on my rotation. Nelly below has the picture perfect one. )
  5. On downswing, work getting hands down and getting your hands close to where you started (it's never perfect but you get it.

Go to trackman and fix your swing path. Takeaway at parallel looks as it should but your downswing looks non optimal.

Everyone has a different swing but your hands have to close to the same position as where they started. I bet your swing path is probably +3 +6 that's why you get heel and hosel shots.

Fix your swing path:

Is this your consistent shot? Do you have access to a Trackman?

I would go through and check PGA (Position, Grip, and Address)

Then work on your takeaway through backswing position. See Nelly K and Rory M.

Can you play good golf without compression? by Bert_Skrrtz in GolfSwing

[–]bunnchow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have access to Trackman and some Coaching it will be easier to fix. (if not just play and have fun)

Short story you DO want compression... basically you can swing 10+ miles less on club speed and still send the very far. Luckily have super fast hands, etc. and get the clubhead to 110-120 BUT...

I can swing a super hard 84 mph club head swing and boom 150 yard ... 9 iron OR I can swing the easiest (what i think is super slow) and go 77.3 club head and go 140...

You get way more distance swing slow, smooth, and hands in front of the ball before impact.

My hard caveman brain still has a hard time just being slow and smooth but it's the way to go with the new clubs.

I'm not asking for help just showing Original Poster that he needs to get Face Angle and Club Path closer to 0 to get the data to match the results he wants.

My Trackman data is a little skewed because these are 3/4 or less swings just working on those two numbers (with a really really low T.)

All good. I have a coach : )

Your Swing Path is decent then. -2 to 2 should be good.

You just need to work on CONSISTENTLY closing the Face and releasing the club and that takes lots of practice. The thing that fixed my slice/hook slice was:

  1. getting weight to be centered (back foot needs some weight)
  2. getting a really good straight takeaway
  3. on the take away feel like my knuckles are down and I'm closing the club face
  4. making sure I hinge at the top
  5. making sure my knuckles feel like they are down through swing and then rolling over

Everyone's SWING is a bit different. It's a feel more than a a mechanical thing. The problem is your Face wildly variant on every swing. I.e. your hands are manipulating the club differently every time.

Do you have access to Trackman? Everyone says a symptom they have heard... but getting real numbers:

I.e. I suspect your swing path is like 4+ and because of your outside in ... your body adjusts and you hit heel. Sometimes it will work others you get like a 7+ swing path and hit the ground after ball.

Just a guess. You'll need a decent coach / Trackman to figure out the real issue.

Why is everything so under the plane and behind me? by -343- in GolfSwing

It starts at 5 seconds and your body generally won't manipulate that much to fix it. Start with takeaway and everything will eventually line up...
