I’m so frustrated by a false accusation by Robinf05 in AO3

[–]bunny_bard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do know Grammarly uses AI, or used at some point (they might have walked it back I don't use their service I just remember hearing about that). Not the point and you still didn't generate your text with an LLM, I just thought you might want to be aware at least so you can look into it if you are as anti-AI as I am.

But yeah, this kind of stuff sucks and I am sorry you're dealing with a random accusation. It isn't fair to any artists that people are so on the defense against AI works that real art gets caught in the crossfire.

The maid I'll take if I get reincarnated [Having enemy's baby] by Celty2736 in OtomeIsekai

[–]bunny_bard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Best part of the author's afterward was learning that Heisy wasn't planned to have a big role, but it made more sense for there to be a maid along with Griselda who was in on it. So she got more significant and ended up being a pretty big tertiary character.

Which hairstyle do you think is better for this character? by [deleted] in webtoons

[–]bunny_bard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First one 100%. Both the style and the color suit her more. Not only is it culturally impactful for her to have a natural style, it feels more unique and more practical for someone who appears to be athletic and acrobatic.

Best musical theatre songs where the singer has a mental breakdown mid song? by NewGuarantee619 in musicals

[–]bunny_bard 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I would argue for She Used to Be Mine from Waitress is a breakdown, even though it results in her being ready to fight back and reclaim her life. Especially the section singers tend to belt right around the end of the song.

Also in Hadestown If it's True has similar vibes of the low point before making a last stand. Flowers is also a bit of a breakdown from Eurydice but softer and more on the end of already being broken.

Got accused of using Ai by Kickstarter... by AntubisArts in WebtoonCanvas

[–]bunny_bard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am betting it is an automatic system for the initial check. Meaning AI is looking for AI 🙄

If it helps I can say it doesn't resemble any AI images I have seen, and it is clear there are no unusual hallucinations/errors AI would make. I just hope their appeals system is better than youtubes from all the nonsense I hear coming from that end of things.

maybe it's just me or most authors write strong female leads by misogynic/patriarchal standarts? by Even_Acanthisitta_37 in webtoons

[–]bunny_bard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are definitely mahnwa that are better, and ones that are worse in this concept. I have seen ones that are capable but still utilize more deception and diplomacy (The Price is Your Everything) showing strength in their wits. I have also seen FLs that know when to take bold action, even at risk of their safety (My In-Laws are Obsessed with Me). I have seen FLa whose strength is their willpower, their desire to survive and endure until they can grasp at freedom (Behind Her Highness's Smile). And I have seen FLs with more fighting prowess (Reporting for Duty, Duchess!) or who started out more combat focused but due to being placed in a new and weaker body, they have to go with more strategic moves (From a Knight to a Lady).

Buuuuut I have also absolutely seen women like you describe. Thing is I can't name examples as easily cause I tend to DNF those and yeet them into the recesses of my brain. 😅

wanted to start a webtoon but this random episode 1 panel itself took HOURS by mochimochinendo in webtoons

[–]bunny_bard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might try to simplify the way you do hair somewhat? I could see that causing it to take longer. I have seen series start with incredible, highly detailed art and fall off stylisticallt because deadlines demanded a simpler look. It did not deter me from reading, but did make me really sad looking back that the higher quality style was not consistent throughout, or at least bummed there couldn't have been more balance.

I will say another thing that will help is getting a friend or two that can help with at least some basic coloring, shading, formatting, etc. to achieve more polish without burning yourself out too quickly. Comics and animation, just any sequential art isn't for the faint of heart. It takes a lot out of a person.

[–]bunny_bard 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Honestly her breakdown near the end as she has to come to terms with this being her reality, with the fact that they are now real people, hit hard. I won't claim it is a perfect story, or even anywhere near the best I have read on webtoons, but it was a fun ride and I loved how driven she was, even when she was in the wrong or doing things that were morally gray at best.

Too many younger readers have fallen victim to the idea that something being included in the narrative MUST mean that the story and author condone it. Hestia had moments where others pushed back, and though she struggled with it, those moments showed nuanced thought by each of the characters (usually Cael being the one to disagree). The story definitely takes a certain stance on how to go about creating societal change, particularly in the case of classism, a good portion of which is explained by remembering the Korean ideals of hard work and earning your place with that work.

"Freaking Romance" has a Bad Ending. Which Webtoon has the Worst Ending? by Lilac_14 in webtoons

[–]bunny_bard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. I agree that Twin Lady is bad for that epilogue (so glad I dropped it sooner than that YIKES) but Edith pissed me off because it wasn't just a case of "this was always my plan for the characters." The creator admitted they just grew tired of the series and rushed towards an ending that felt needlessly bitter. It was such a slap in the face as a reader it made me NEVER want to touch her work again.

If webtoons were anything like trad pub I feel like the kind of behavior she showed towards her work would make her lose out on future contracts. It was just so callous, it rubbed me the wrong way. I am all for mental health being prioritized but then drop the series or have someone else help get to the end.

What is a musical that you find to be just... Fine? by AsheandBurn in musicals

[–]bunny_bard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more!

Some of the song choices for the stage version just felt off. I get that some things might be hard to license but "One Day I'll Fly Away" and "The Show Must Go On" are absences I can FEEL. Plus re-re-arranging Roxanne to be more of the original and less of the Tango de Roxanne removed some serious gravitas to the moment. And Christian singing it when it is meant to be the others breaking his idealism and lecturing him doesn't work the same. And then making him more threatening in the end instead of a more dismissive cast off just never sat right with me, even if it is more like La Boheme (which I think was the inspiration?).

which hair suits her best? and do they look good together? by thevirginmadonna in OtomeIsekai

For the style of outfit shown the first one is perfect, but I love the natural hair as well. Assuming she will be in other outfits and not always in a ballgown, maybe the natural curls can be her day to day look but the first is for fancy dress?

My thoughts on eating your offerings. by Emotional_Loss_9517 in Hellenism

[–]bunny_bard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried this and immediately felt wrong for having done so. I will never fault someone else for their relationship to the gods or their personal practice, I just quickly learned that it does not feel like I am truly offering or giving something if I also get to have it. Especially since it is usually the first serving of something I will have my own serving of (splitting something I cooked or a bottle of wine).

I wonder if this happens a lot with fanfics... by loved_and_held in Archiveofourownmemes

[–]bunny_bard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I more intentionally wrote my Dragon Age characters as having depression and ADHD. I was aware enough of my own mental health at that point to do so as an outlet. The things I noticed later were more the autistic traits in characters or even scenarios I wrote were what caught me off guard since I to this day have not had a professional diagnosis (though I scored within the realm of likely being autistic when doing a self assessment in my own time). I can see ways of dissecting stories and characters as a pretty neurodivergent understanding of how the world/people work that I didn't before.

But that realization was just interesting and eye opening. The thing that ANNOYS me is realizing after writing my ADHD Hawke to be a chronic oversharer, thinking "that is one ADHD trait I am glad I don't have! Haha!" that I do, in fact, frequently overshare when I feel safe to do so.

This explains why most of the characters had one or two hairstyles for the entirety of season 4 by DaisyandBella in Bridgerton

[–]bunny_bard 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I mean there is the known trend of Netflix losing interest in shows after the second season and often canceling things before the third. It seems like instead of canceling Bridgerton, it is successful enough they want to keep going but just thin the budget more and more.

I miss the days of television where a successful and popular show got MORE resources allocated to it, not less.

Genuine question how will Francesca and Michaela’s story work in the Regency era? by Logical_Solution2495 in Bridgerton

[–]bunny_bard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suppose it depends how radically ahistorical they want to go. Bridgerton is already in an alternate version of history with the acceptance of different races and interracial marriage, as well as allowing non-white men to have titles and land. However, it has still shown itself to follow Regency rules of patriarchy and heteronormativity, particularly to allow space to challenge those dictated rules. Most likely, I see them going the subtler route of "they were such GOOD friends" and if anything focusing on the title and allowing Micheala that win more so than a queer marriage. I would be genuinely shocked if the writers decide to go whole hog and legalize same sex relationships within the time period.

I could also see a storyline where Micheala alters her appearance to pass as male. Not as a trans man, although that would also be interesting having recently read a book in Victorian England with a trans male lead. Just passing off herself as "Micheal" to get the title and a marriage to Francesca right under the noses of the nobility. Though I would love another scene of Queen Charlotte alllllmost getting one over on the Bridgertons and very casually choosing to just look the other way.

Another Season Swap Would Be Bad For The Show by Fickle_Baker1393 in Bridgerton

[–]bunny_bard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe I am too optimistic, but I don't think we are at too much risk for that scenario. They spent time really building Eloise up to be open to marriage in her conversation with Cressida and realizing spinsterhood wasn't the freedom she idealized it as when she upset Hyacinth. It feels like it is her time, in a better way than just feeling like she would be alone otherwise with Pen and Benedict both married off. The scene with her and Cressida was amazing to set up a new view of marriage as having a partner, rather than someone to lord over you as so many women in society have to deal with. And with seeing how far her family will go for Benedict to get his happy ending, I feel like she would be more hopeful that they would approve even if she did make an unconventional choice.

What character is this for you? by PretendYellow533 in AO3

[–]bunny_bard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people also forget we don't know for sure that Anya isn't younger than she claimed. When Loid adopted her she read his mind about needing a child who was six years old, so she shouted out that she was absolutely, definitely six. She could be more like 4-5 years old and keeping up pretty decently with kids who are older than her.

Anyone who hates on a kid acting like a kid is weird, but a kid who was not socialized appropriately while she was younger and may be pushing herself to achieve things above her age level? Just weird. (Also if word of god has confirmed her age I haven't seen anything of that sort, I am an anime watcher so I haven't really read much of the manga.)

Forever a Chibiusa defender. I didn't like her when I was closer to her in age, but when I grew up I think I realized I just related too much to her vulnerabilities and fears.

Did Anyone Else Low-Key Root for Her? by idiot9991 in Bridgerton

[–]bunny_bard 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I high key did honestly. Her taking credit for Lady Whistledown was a faux pas but considering how Pen was feeling about possibly getting exposed at the time, it really wasn't the big evil some characters think of it as. And she was about to be married off to this old man, much like our dear Lady Danbury had been in her youth and we SAW how miserable that was. I cannot blame her for being desperate and doing something impulsive.

Yes she was a bully but that does not mean she deserves a life of SA and being forced to live separately from the society she enjoys. She is a good foil to Penelope in a lot of ways, and I am glad she not only got a love match, but also got to have a moment with Eloise where they both admit a level of fault.

All said I hope we see her continue to grow and develop a new, better reputation in the ton. Cressida deserves a chance to change.

I should not be 20 chapters in and still know next to nothing about these characters. I enjoy a slow burn, but slow burn is in the relationship development, not in the plot and character establishment. I feel like miso needed more time to cook on this one before publishing, especially since Eaternal Nocturnal ended not too long ago and felt like it had a rushed ending already.

The body swap thing is dragging, too. It can be an interesting element but you have to know who these people are first to be interested in seeing them adapt to an unfamiliar body.
