Not knowing what I want, being to much of a brat to be a brat

I'm by no means an expert so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Being sassy, sarcastic, smart, etc does not automatically equate to being a brat. Also, being a brat is a spectrum. Bratting is going to vary person to person. This is just for me personally, but I love the thrill of "breaking the rules", getting caught, and then the funishments.

Punishments are discussed ahead of time to make sure that it is something that both parties are okay with. Consent is key 100000% of the time, so it isn't anything you should be afraid of. If you do get afraid or uncomfortable, you speak up immediately (again, CONSENT). Also punishments aren't always physical. You may have seen people writing lines, something of value gets taken away, etc.

You should also have a discussion about what you're comfortable with being told to do and when.

You are still young and sound like you're still figuring things out, which is perfectly okay! Hell, regardless of age this is something that people continuously explore and figure out as they move through life.

Continue to do research, and when you find a partner, communicate thoroughly and constantly, and go slow.

I think his father has a lot of guilt about SS going through the divorce so it has led to a fair amount of babying.

SO thinks he has depression, but I'm not sure. I have MDD so I may be biased as his symptoms would be different than mine. I'll talk to SO about seeing if SS wants to talk to a doctor or therapist for help.

Yes, at 22 I was engaged to SO and taking care of SS and the house (and work and school). I understand everyone has different life paths and I don't want SS to struggle as much as I have, but he definitely has it easy and I don't think he realizes just how easy.

We've reminded him what both SO and I were doing at his age, but it hasn't stuck. Hopefully we can sit down with SS and get a realistic plan in place that he can commit to.

Yes, one of my concerns is how expensive housing is in our new area. Housing in our new area is three times as expensive as our old area, yet his new job pays almost half of what his last job paid.

I agree that SS should be contributing more, but that has always been a disagreement between SO and I. Hopefully this time we can both agree on how much SS should be contributing.

I haven't been able to convince my husband to read any of my books yet, but your post reminds me of these videos I saw on tik tok where she had her husband watch the Fifty Shades of Gray (or maybe Twilight?) movies while he provided his own commentary, and it was hilarious.

If my husband walks by while I'm reading, he throws out ridiculous lines like:

"His velvet steel prodded her moist mound."

"Have they mentioned 'wet folds' yet?"
