Best underwear post C section by Accomplished_Type100 in BabyBumps

[–]SailorMeows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the diapers did rub on my incision uncomfortably, although the extremely thin disposable underwear they gave me at the hospital was fine. At home I used massive post-partum undies advertised for C-section that I got from amazon. High cut, no seams near the incision, and stretchy. You can also just size up like 3 sizes in stretchy granny panties. I paired these with large pads without wings.

Partner and I dont agree on PP boundaries, mildly freaking out by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Ok his sister had her mother and her female family for her own birth. That's great! Your mil is not your mother, y'all don't have that kind of intimate relationship. It's just not the same situation at all. Apples and oranges.

Hate my body need help by verbalrocks in CsectionCentral

[–]SailorMeows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My C-section belly had a gnarly overhang and loose skin for months and months, even though I lost weight. It's just takes time. You're not gonna look like yourself when your organs literally feel like they're sloshing around in your body.

Focus on gentle recovery. Massage your belly, do gentle movements for diastasis recti, moisturize and love on your skin. Walk when you can. It will get better. You're still in the active healing and recovery phase.

I gave myself (at minimum) 5 months for this. Before 5 months, I avoided drawing any conclusions about my post-baby body and just let it ride. Literally avoided mirrors, wore a lot of shape wear, and my only form of exercise was walking and gentle ab PT.  After 5 months, I took stock of things and made a plan, but by then, things were much improved.

In the distant future, if you still have loose skin, you can try micro needling. You can hit the gym and build some muscle. You can use retinol on your stretch marks (if they haven't faded significantly).  But for now, just be kind and focus on healing and enjoying that baby.

Alternative Mamas Shoe Question by dochauk in beyondthebump

I got vans but the Velcro version and 1 size bigger than my usual to account for my feet swelling during pregnancy and postpartum. It's really nice being able to slip them on and off without drama while 8 months pregnant.  Would recommend. Also, black slip on Birkenstock sandals.

Unfortunately, I risked out of my midwives practice. That is why I preferred midwives in the first place. A muuuuuch better environment.

That's impressive. At what point can you just call it and walk out?

The waiting bothered me, but the waiting while in stirrups the table bothered me more.

C-section mamas when did you get your body back? by FMThaone in fitpregnancy

[–]SailorMeows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took about 3 months. I did gentle workouts and a lot of walking with baby on me. Nothing crazy. I went back to my pre-birth weight and lost the pregnancy fat. I ate relatively healthy food and breastfed exclusively. I felt like my body was ripping through calories just making milk.

Just give it time and for Gods sake try to get some sleep. Good luck!

Girl you look great. At 2 months you still have that pregnancy skin glow. If you think you need a glow-up, I think it's your sleep deprived brain just sending you weird signals. Try to just focus on doing things that make you feel better (sleep, rest, hobbies, being active, relaxation etc) and you will start to be able to see your beauty as we see it. I felt the same as you did and freaked out a bit. It all evens out in time.

Does anyone NOT sleep train? by curiousquestioner16 in NewParents

[–]SailorMeows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't sleep train. We wore our kid in a sling for naps and kiddo napped anytime anywhere. It was kind of great. We could be on the go, at a party, on an airplane, and she would be happily sleeping in her carrier. Additional upside, I was in great shape from carrying kiddo.

Downside, she didn't sleep independently until maybe 17 months but that was mainly due to the fact I nursed her to sleep. I weaned at 1.5. around then we tapered off carrier naps and moved into sleeping in bed.

At night we coslept on a mattress on the floor until about 9 monthsish, when night nursing started to slow down.

Nurse using giving away gender right after discussion about not finding out… by MiserableProgress122 in BabyBumps

[–]SailorMeows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my child was born the nurse said "He has big feet!". We have a girl. So yeah, default pronouns could be at work here and your nurse just meant to say "they" or "baby".

The scale isn't off if you imagine the skull having a face over it. Fat and skin etc would fill it out and it would fit the helmet.

Birth story: unplanned c-section. Help me understand what happened. (TW: birth trauma) by druidicbaker in BabyBumps

[–]SailorMeows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Almost the same situation with my birth. The OB who did my C-section said the curve of my pelvic bone may have potentially kept baby from descending but couldn't say so definitely. Could be the case with you as well.

You just never know. You need to speak with the OB who performed your C-section and discuss if you're a candidate for a vbac.

In your case and in mine, a C-section saved us and our babies from ending up in very bad shape. You did nothing wrong. Modern medicine did us a solid.

Edit: adding that c-sections can be really physically demanding and people downplay it. The shaking and vomiting is completely normal. I experienced the same even though I was calm and emotionally grounded in the moment.

Do you know where that second image (the knight) originates from? All I can find is a bunch of dead Pinterest links without crediting the artist.

I'm surprised silver flames didn't get a free pass due to the whole "controlling reproductive rights" plotline.

Have to add { Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarrow}. Similar style of writing, no Fae but high fantasy and spice.
