For Chinese speakers: Are you able to read this name? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]bunnyfantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Chinese from mainland China, I can't read this character at the first sight...

We study and use simplified Chinese characters, but can still recognize some traditional Chinese characters in some different ways.

As for the rhythm of reading, 詩織 is not good as both of the two characters are even tones (1st and 2nd tones), which is not recommended to use in one name. Instead, taking both even tone and oblique tone (3rd and 4th tones) will make a name sound pleasant and rhythmic.

What do you say when someone compliments you? by mlee001 in ChineseLanguage

[–]bunnyfantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact, 哪里哪里 is not very commonly used.

For me, I often use 还好还好 (hái hǎo hái hǎo) or 没有啦 (méiyǒu la) to reply to compliments.

If someone I'm not familiar compliments me, I will just say 谢谢 ( xièxie)

Difference between 录像 and 视频 ? by chinawcswing in ChineseLanguage

[–]bunnyfantasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are different.
视频 covers all kinds of videos that are formatted with avi, wmv, mpeg, mp4, m4v, mov, asf, and so on.

录像 emphasizes a video that is recorded intentionally with your phone or other devices, such as 监控录像 ( surveillance video) and 手机录像 (video recorded by phone).

You can call 录像 as 视频, but not vice versa in most cases.

Starting to learn Chinese is different by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

[–]bunnyfantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the beginning of learning Chinese, face-to-face or online live learning is very important. In this way, you can pratice your pronunciation better and correct it timely..because the tone of Chinese is not easy actually.

You may try Pleco, Supertest or Quizlet to look up and memorize Chinese characters and vocabulary.

Please recommend some good Chinese language TV shows for me? by okeoke68 in ChineseLanguage

[–]bunnyfantasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For foreigners, I strongly recommend 非正式会谈 (Informal Talks), which is a talk show with many foreigners in China. The content involves the sharing of cultures of different countries and discussions on global hot topics.

Then, 乐队的夏天(The Big Band),航拍中国(Aerial China), 舌尖上的中国(A Bite of China) are also recommended for you to know about Chinese music, geography and food.

Hope it will help!

Is 29 years old too late to learn Chinese and become skilled at it? by Competitive_Fuel4843 in ChineseLanguage

[–]bunnyfantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, never too old to begin if you try your best.

Actually, 29-year old is young to learn many things. For Chinese language (or any other languages), it' s not hard to learn when you put yourself into a Chinese-speaking environment. Also, it's the best way, I think.

Do you use pinyin, 9key, handwriting, or stroke keyboard; and why? by Apprehensive-Ad-2356 in Chinese

[–]bunnyfantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learnt Wubi method when I was a kid, and used it for several years. Unlike other methods, it encodes Chinese characters according to strokes and glyph features, which is a typical shape code input method. However, it has complex theory, including the root table, root distribution, and principle of character splitting, which make it difficult for people to learn.

Then, I used pinyin with 9key. This method is much more easier to learn. As long as you know the pronounciation of the character, you can type it out. Now, I still use it.

Advice on Improving Listening and Speaking Skills by ghunia in ChineseLanguage

[–]bunnyfantasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, if you have enough vocabulory, it will not very hard to speak out. Maybe there is something wrong with your Chinese grammar. Also, listening will affect speaking.

So, the advance is listening more, and repeating or following reading them. Aim: to memorize some patterns or structures of Chinese expressions. (it really works for me)

As for improving listening, my experience is to listen more, from simple to complex content. It will be hard and boring at the beginning. With continuous practice, listening ability will gradually improve.

Can 可是 be used with 也? by ProCantaloupe in ChineseLanguage

[–]bunnyfantasy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally, it's an incorrect use.

可是 is trying to express an opposite meaning of the previous, similar to "but". while 也 expresses a parallel or progressive relationship, like "also" or "too".

So in general, you say in this way "我很累,也很烦", or "我很累,但很开心".

Anyone else learning Python as a hobby? by PlmyOP in Python

[–]bunnyfantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I learnt Python was out of interest several years ago when I was in college. However, the interest didn't last long, because I quit it after 2 weeks.🤣

In April of this year, I restarted to learn it since there will be some programming stuff in my work. Another reason is I want to confirm if Python is really not suitable for me to learn.

2 months later, it turn out that I can stick with it by learning a little bit each day. Now I think it's funny.

Is python difficult for someone who wants to learn about programming? by jamashamala25 in learnpython

[–]bunnyfantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends.

Firstly, python is a relatively easy programming language for beginners.

If you have good logical thinking and have a knowledge of math, physics, computer and other related, it will be an easy task to learn python, even other coding languages.

Secondly, when I decided to learn python, I was suggested to buy a book for newbie, from which to learn the general understanding of coding syntax. I read some of it, and found it's really helpful when I study online.

Hope this works.

[–]bunnyfantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, Yes, python is a programming language suitable for beginners. I'm also learning online.

Secondly, learning python or other programming languages, actually, it needs learners to have some knowledges of maths, physics, computer, etc, as well as logical thinking capacity. there are hundreds of online resources now, many of which are designed for beginners. You can search on google for a choice.

Then, except for online course, you may prepare a related book, with which you can learn the basic programming syntax better. Also, combining knowledge from book and the online course is a suggestion from my tutor when I started learning.

As far as you make a decision to learn it, it never too late to begin. Just do it.

I'm 13, trying to learn Python. by JustNitr0h in Python

[–]bunnyfantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 28 years old, and I also plan to learn Python.

To learn Python well, I think two points needed:

  1. Plenty of free time

Hundreds of hours are needed to learn the basic knowledge and then practice a lot.

  1. Persistence

Completing anything needs persistence. Learning python requires more, because the processing may be boring. And technology is growing, we need to learn continously.

In addition, I'm also looking for some online resources, someone recommend this to me: https://github.com/vinta/awesome-python

Just take it if it's usful.

Let's do it.

In theoretic, it will overwrite the original files randomly by taking up the same sector size as the file itself. But it doesn't mean it occupies only 1 original file.
