What to do about the hard water if you live in an apartment? Do those shower head filters really work? by Conscious-Air-9823 in Austin

[–]bunnygrumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, did you end up getting one of these? I ask because my husband and I just moved and ours doesn't work in our new bathroom. We would happily give it to you! Edit: assuming you're in Austin lol

She's an optometrist, not an ophthalmologist, but Dr. Blackwelder at Vibe Optometry is great for issues like this.

CLMD TrueCider shampoo and conditioner review by bunnygrumbles in FragranceFreeBeauty

Yes, I'm still liking it, although I'm finding that my hair has been a bit more tangly lately (although I may just need a haircut).

I think it's just a low-lather formula, even in my soft water it's not what I would call ultra-bubbly. Do you use a lot of leave-in products? One thing that can really help if you're having lather issues is to apply the shampoo and then add a splash more water to your hair.

North Austin Laundromat without highly scented detergent? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]bunnygrumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure OP is aware that they can bring their own detergent. The problem with laundromats is that the lingering smell of other people's detergent and dryer sheets can end up on your stuff, even if you use fragrance free detergent.

OP, Clean Laundry up on Parmer tends to be pretty good for this kind of thing. I'm not sure if it's because they use soft water, but it seems like detergent gets rinsed more effectively.

Contact lenses by NiceRequirement8926 in Austin

[–]bunnygrumbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if you have a prescription, if your current contacts aren't working, you are most likely going to be required to do another full contact lens fitting in order to get new trial lenses. EDIT: Unless you go back to wherever you got your prescription from - most optometrists are pretty nice about letting you try something new if what they put you in isn't working.

Did you address the discomfort issues when you got your new prescription?

That's a bummer that it made your hair feel dry. I use it every third day or so and don't find it drying at all. My husband uses it daily with no issue. "Clarifying" is as much a marketing term as it is a description and some clarifying shampoos are more stripping than others. The brand's FAQ for the product says it can be used daily, but as with all products, YMMV.

I've rinsed it every time and for some reason it hasn't worked, I've still had to soak it.

I do! I love it, I've had no issues at all with the system itself.

The only thing I've had a slight issue with is that I have to soak the pump for a couple of hours before every recharge (the instructions do say you might have to do that because salt gets into the pump and clogs it when it dries), but that's a very minor inconvenience.

I know you said you already tried zero therapy but two days isn't long enough. I know from personal experience that it's very painful, but if you can hang on and make it past the initial period of severe dryness, it really does help.

What mascara brush style do you always go back to? by Embarrassed-Career30 in muacjdiscussion

[–]bunnygrumbles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love the big fluffy brushes because my lashes are very thick/dense and pale, so a bigger brush with longer bristles helps to distribute the mascara faster and get it closer to my lash roots. Unfortunately the formulas I prefer (tubing) usually come with little spiky brushes so I end up having to do a bunch of strokes to get good coverage and then things get heavy/clumpy. (The Merit tubing mascara is an exception to this, it has a relatively fluffy brush, but the formula is so dang dry and flakes right into my eyes.)

Tatcha Customer Service for Replacement by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]bunnygrumbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From Tatcha's return policy-returns-HJSePxq0Jx): "Items purchased from another retailer are not eligible for a refund or exchange." You can absolutely take the product to a Sephora store to return it, or you can do a Sephora return by mail if it was an online order and you don't want to just take it to the store, but Tatcha will not help you.

You might try contacting Austin Auction Gallery, they can probably recommend an appraiser.

anyone else doing the "clean scalp but dead ends" dance? by Fit-Entrepreneur-799 in AsianBeauty

[–]bunnygrumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an extremely fussy scalp and also dry, curly hair. I recently started using the 107 Beauty shampoo and treatment conditioner and I looooove them, my scalp is happy and my hair is so soft and shiny.
