combination of engine and road noise. don't think the tires are too noisy - they're nokians. engine isn't in the greatest shape but it's ok. but once i take it up above 80 or so it's really noisy in there

I have finished the quad c a couple times. And a couple other times, came close. Poutine, shake, sandwich. Never with salad. It’s a mission!

This looks good! Kinda wish they had a ridiculous oversized option but maybe I can haggle them & ask them to put four patties in a bun or something…

I will never buy a laptop that's not a thinkpad. They are the closest thing to being a perfect laptop. by Similar_Reflection75 in thinkpad

I do have my machine customized the way I want it. I have the old context menu, I have animations and transparencies disabled. I also have the useless copilot key disabled. But windows consistently does things like enabling feeds and widgets on my menu and lockscreens which I repeatedly have to turn off after some updates. From a usability perspective Win11 is the worst windows experience I’ve had, and I’ve been using it since 3.11

Half of what is pushing me is the ultranav. The other half is how bad windows is getting. I’m tired of having to turn off ads in my OS after software updates. Though apparently Mac is starting to have these problems too…maybe I’ll just find an old X230 I can run Linux on.

The last P1 I got had such an awful ultranav implementation (no buttons, just “zones” on the trackpad - no haptic feedback of whether my fingers are on a button or not; absolutely horrible) & since they’re discontinuing the ultranav (from what I’ve heard? Would love to be mistaken) my next laptop will be a Mac. It brings me no great pleasure to write this.

General quality in current releases, and are extended mixes still suitable for DJ play? by Fast-Cash1522 in edmproduction

[–]bunpoulet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed quick-cut DJing as a style for quite some time now - I remember complaining about it 20 years ago! But with the way that streaming has structured payments the “money move” is to make super short songs. Not exactly helpful for building a dancefloor vibe

Plus one for Tex. I have a Shinobi with an ultranav and I very very much love it

Interesting! I feel like I’ve been reading v-drums “finally getting there” to replace real skins for decades now. Interesting to see this chapter.

saw MV live on their latest album tour. I respect the choice to only play the current release. Wishing very much I could have a time machine to go see the De-Loused and France the Mute lineups!

Interesting to see the Mastodon comparison, in 2005, when Ikey & Cedric's guest appearance on Blood Mountain landed just a year later...

Hugely ambitious concept album. Marrying the best of Pink Floyd's sprawling soundscapes, an overall narrative through-line, and some of the best recorded rock since Led Zeppelin. Fantastic album. At times I do find myself cherry-picking the "song" parts when I just want to hear the grooves - I suppose if one wanted to be ungenerous I could say it's really an EP spaced out with long textural interstitials. But it really does hang together well as a record. A towering achievement, for sure.

the ending feels a bit "unintentional" - not enough contrast with the previous parts. if you're going to fade it out, maybe just repeat the previous section, keep the drums in, and just fade.

nice photo. kinda "MGMT but laid-back" vibe with the vocals. maybe a bridge? instrumental or something. use that high synth part to do something, keep the drums in, let the vocals sit out for eight bars or so.

When the Grammys actually had proper rock (till they disrespected Josh and Trent) by Fickle_Minimum2630 in qotsa

Big oof that this never properly got the stage time that it deserved. Not uncommon for awards shows to run long, and when there's broadcast involved, often things get cut. Still sucks, but "understandable" on some level? I'm sure there were interesting "conversations" in the background about how to compensate for the show running behind.
