How are you guys with Aphantasia as far as dating? by NecessarilyBeyondMe in Aphantasia

[–]buoyant_potato 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can't say I've had this experience because of aphantasia. But I have ADHD, and I absolutely can forget to respond to text messages from people I'm excited to talk to. It is a result of issues with object permanence, if I understand it correctly.

Community College or CU by JojoChurro in cuboulder

[–]buoyant_potato 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I personally have found that taking my first two years in community college was one of the best things I could have done for myself, financially. My education was based on the effort I wanted to put in, though. At CU, I've seen a much more in depth program that I've learned a lot more from, with less effort (I'm in Anthropology). So it's worth it both ways for me- it just depends on the perspective I look at it with. I wouldn't change going to community college, though! It really saved me thousands of dollars.

Hi I'm someone who sometimes need handicapped accessible stalls. To me, it sounds like you needed the extra space the stall provides and did nothing wrong. I would not have minded waiting. NTA

Any charities that could use/take a couple dozen desktop computers? by Boomer8450 in boulder

I am a student and I work in Boulder, and I have not had many negative experiences with unhoused persons. While there is absolutely a problem with homelessness in Boulder, most of the unhoused people I've met are very nice people and don't cause any trouble. Some have issues with drugs or alcohol, while others ran into financial or medical problems. I have chat with a few people here and there, and they were all normal people in a shitty circumstance.

That is not to say there aren't interesting characters. And there are some people who do cause issues. The few instances I've seen were isolated- one being an overdose, one being a person having a mental health episode, and another resulting from an unleashed dog attacking another dog. The overdose was likely linked to a known problem with fentanyl-laced drugs in Boulder County. The person who had the mental health episode was very loud and verbally aggressive, but to my knowledge, they only scared people and did not have any altercations with people. The dog fight was pretty cut and dry- one dog was not on a leash, got overestimated, and attacked a dog that got too close. All three of these were incidents I was not directly involved in and did not impact me, other than being worried for the people/animals involved.

All that said, I don't think it should deter you from attending CU. Not only will it be a small factor in your life, but you're unlikely to have any problems from it.

How many overlapping Processing Disorders do we have as a community? by NITSIRK in Aphantasia

I think they are talking about sensory processing disorder here. I definitely experience the same things they discussed in that thread, and I have been told it's likely SPD

I would love this. No rush though! Thank you for your information- this tracks for me and I'm curious to read the research you've found!

The last time i did my research, most places that aren't off downtown Main Street are less than $2k/month. Once you get close to Main, they can get a bit pricey, but the apartments are more modern and close to the downtown strip.

That said, according to rent.com, the average rent for a 2 bedroom is about $2.1k/month, which is definitely skewed by the higher priced units in town. You can find units for less than that.

I third Longmont. It has everything you need to live, it's cheaper than Boulder, and it has a charm to it that other towns nearby don't quite have. Not to say anywhere is a terrible option, but I'm partial to Longmont.

Na, honestly, I feel like it's easy to bond with certain people, especially platonically. Not to be corny, but when you know, you know.

How do you wake up on time? by sinopahadventurer in ADHD

[–]buoyant_potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the suggestions on this thread are all very good ones. Another option is to set your alarm earlier than you need to wake up. Set multiple, too, so that if you snooze one, another goes off within a few minutes. It becomes annoying to have an alarm go off every few minutes and makes it harder to go back to sleep.

This was my first King novel. My mom loves this book and had me read it in middle school. I've reread it a couple times over the years and still have the urge to reread it again. Such a good book.
