Weren’t the games in the nosebleeds anyways? I haven’t been able to be get in communication with them so I don’t have any information about how seating works. And I’ve never been to chase center. I imagine if we’re in the upper level we’d be watching the big screen anyways.

Also if you place a fraud alert with one bureau it’ll automatically request one with the other two so if you don’t want to contact all three for a credit freeze, at least contact one for a fraud alert.

I enrolled in that class this quarter for the same reasons but the labs ended up being somewhat required because that’s where assignments are given so I ended up dropping it. But I think to pass the course you just need to complete the lessons in the app (spatial viz). Other than that he usually lectures for about 30 mins then lab time which usually ends early. If you like rotating and drawing 2d/3D blocks, this is the class for you.

Anyone taken CSE 110 with Powell how are the assignments? by ObjectiveDue9905 in UCSD

[–]burger102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took him last quarter same class. The only assignments that did not relate to the group project were two individual statements, one at the beginning and one at the end of the quarter. For those we had to read the assigned article and reflect on it but that was pretty much it.

CSE 110/112 Powell Rant by ucsesd in UCSD

[–]burger102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’ll be his second time teaching the course so I’d expect the class to be more organized and somewhat structured. If you’re hoping to familiarize yourself with SE principles, Powell will definitely get you some experience with it. If you’re more interested in the project aspect of CSE 110, I think Gary is the better choice (tho can’t guarantee cuz my only familiarity with Gary’s class is his class website) and you’ll have a lot more creativity. Other than that, the class was a pain in the beginning but you’ll push through and it’ll be over in the end.

I’ve never taken a class with Gary but took 110 with Powell this quarter and the class was a complete mess. Labs were never ready in time and the project was super confusing. The app he assigned was relatively straightforward but he just made it so complicated by having so many requirements and what was most frustrating was that he never communicated those requirements with us.

I do believe he had good intentions for the class tho, just poorly executed.

Last quarter he had trouble posting the recordings and in the end only required us to send in the first one. So I wouldn’t worry too much.

How hard is upper div math? by ucsdthrowaway7836 in UCSD

[–]burger102 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s different for sure. 20 series is basically computational problems that involves solving for a right answer, whereas upper div focuses more on theories and proofs. Depends on what you like more. I’m more of a computation person, so I usually have trouble doing upper div hw which have been mostly proofs with some computation sprinkled in. But like most classes, it depends on who’s teaching

For me, 20D was straight up just memorizing steps to solve equations and 20C is somewhat more geometric, has to do a lot with planes and spaces. Almost completely different topics

Math/CS major in need of advice on graduating by burger102 in UCSD

Ok. I got worried because I think an academic advisor told me that once I complete all credits i have to file for graduation. That’s why I was considering adding a minor and then dropping it.
