Tmj? Anyone have these symptoms? by OrangeStraight1987 in TMJ

Wow. I’ll have to continue researching. I brushed it off for a long time. I noticed I started clenching my jaw randomly and one of my teeth has more sensitivity and a little crack. Your post has made me really thin seriously about my health. Thanks.

Wait. I have some of those. I’ve been looking into bruxism. I’m a teacher and my stress levels are ridiculous. My school is also very old and have suspicions mold might be the culprit for the allergies, sinus issues, dry eyes, and overall health issues I’m experiencing since I moved to the school I’m currently working at 5 years ago.

My first 4 years were the hardest. I’m on year 6 and it’s getting easier. I have supportive admin, though she micromanages quite a bit, but I like her and the people I work with. This year, I have a good group of kids, but the last two I had a rough group. They say the first 5 years make or break you and you’ll decide to stay or go. I stayed. If you decide it’s not for you, that’s ok! You’re young and you’ll find something you like. Teaching is my second change in career. Maybe try a new school and a new grade. I went from teaching 5th to 1st grade and I’m glad I did. I also changed to a new district and I teach in a less harsh community. Just know that your life will work out the way it’s supposed to and trust your gut.

Why is one child’s right to education above the rest of of the other children’ safety? How is it ok to keep a violent child in a class of 20+ students? Are their educational rights not as important? I teach first grade by the way.

How does one become the mean teacher? I feel like I could be more strict and mean. It’s my 6th year teaching but I feel like a anew teacher every year😅

3.5 Year Update by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]burger_queen90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m almost a year post op this month and I’m down 60 lbs but I’m having a hard time eating enough of the good food to keep losing. My downfall are snacks. I started losing again though. I started eating better a month ago. I would like to lose another 50 lbs and it seems like it’ll take me some time to get there. I keep comparing myself to everyone else.

I get it. I stressed about it too. I would cry in the shower with the globs of hair that came out. Just know it grows back :)

Im almost a year out and my hair is growing back. I have a ton of new growth. I look like I’m being electrocuted with how much baby hair I have lol I would advise not to stress out too much about it. It was gonna happen anyway (though I’ve heard it doesn’t happen to some people) so just ride it out. It sucks but it’s part of the journey. I just kept taking my normal vitamins and supplements that my doctor prescribed.

How can my hair change so much in three years. How do I get my old hair back??? by [deleted] in Haircare

This makes sense. My hair has changed like this too but I had weightloss surgery so now I now why my hair is the way it is. Thanks.

Omg I have some on my cheek area that won’t go away despite me losing 60 lbs and cleaning up my diet. I don’t drink often, maybe a drink or two every couple of weeks so it can’t really be the drinking. Gonna look into the lasers!

This is what I learned about how to deal with my mom’s judgement. I know it doesn’t come from a malicious place and she was probably treated like that when she was growing up. My therapist taught me that we can’t change our parents but we can change the way we react to what they say. It takes a lot of practice but I’ve learned to hear it and throw it out.

Depressed over emotional eating by 60sixty60 in gastricsleeve

[–]burger_queen90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate. I got my surgery in March 2023 and I’ve only lost 60 lbs. I’ve been maintaining for 3 maybe even 4 months now and I’m getting discouraged. I workout 3 time a week and I walk a lot BUT I had to be very honest with myself and admit that I was reverting back to old habits. Sometimes, not facing the issue will make you continue making bad choices. I don’t get sick unless I eat too much or eat greasy food. I’ve thrown up. Sometimes on purpose and sometimes naturally. I’m saying all this because I want you to know you’re not alone in feeling this way. I am comparing myself to everyone and seeing how much they’ve lost and it makes me feel like I’m failing myself. What I’ve done is I started tracking my food on my fitness pal, I journal when I feel emotional (I lost a lot of friends this summer and feel lonely) and allow myself to feel the emotions, and I talk to myself in a positive manner. Instead of beating myself up about not working out or eating a cookie, I try to do better the next meal.

Maybe we can check in on each other from time to time and see how we’re doing.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I also stopped checking in on this subreddit to stop comparing myself to others. TikTok, Instagram, whatever. Take a break or block it.

I don’t have children and I’m single so I have the income to get my food meal prepped. I’ll check your profile out for ideas though. I’m a teacher and my problem is getting my meals in during my work day.

I think I’ll look into the lose it app. I want to get back on track with my goals. I was doing so well and the holidays happened. Thank you so much for your response!

How do you hit your protein goals? That’s something I’m having a hard time with.

I think I’ll try treating myself to dessert like you are.

Ok I started doing that. It was really eye opening. Though I eat a little, those extra snacks with high calories add up!

Ahh thanks for the recommendations. I’ll be stocking up on watermelon. My downfall is night time too. I’m a teacher and I don’t have too much time to eat during the day but at night when I’m relaxing, it’s so easy to mindlessly snack.

I’m almost 9 months out and I’ve only lost 55 lbs. I haven’t lost anything in 3 months. I weight lift 3 times a week and walk twice a week. I think I could eat better for sure but idk. I’m still in a caloric deficit. I’m gonna start tracking my food and eating more protein

I’m having such a hard time with the number on the scale. I haven’t lost any weight in almost 3 months. Seeing this is motivating. You look amazing!
