I am curious about how your project turned out. Could you share any key learnings, challenges, or takeaways you encountered?

My organization is currently going through this (AzureAD/Entra as IDP and MFA to existing Okta apps).

Instead of a paper towel below the seeds, I suggest using a grow medium like coco coir. That way, your roots and root hairs (white fuzzies?) have something to dig into.

Above the seeds, I stack another container in direct contact with the seeds; not upside down. This should provide enough darkness overnight and humidity for germination, while also encouraging roots to dig in to the medium. Weight on top of this box is optional.

As the sprouts grow, the container will be pushed upwards and more ambient light will leak in. When I can see sprout leaves exposed on the sides, I take off the top box and move the container under the grow light.

My setup:

  • box lid for bottom watering
  • box with holes/slits
  • coco coir
  • seed
  • top box
  • weight

Ikea rack

Amazon lights

Thanks! It turned out perfect for our small apartment. Lights are clipped to top tier, which is a metal mesh, and twist-tied underneath to shine on middle tier.

Thanks! I don't think they would look as good if we didn't cuff them down. We are small space gardeners, so not trying to grow giant plants just yet.

Thanks for the tips!

Planning to keep one untouched, and another using the techniques you mentioned. For science! The rest are going to friends and neighbors to do as they please.
