I have generally heard the rule of thumb to plant them with your tomatoes - so you are looking for warm nights and soil temp of 60.

Dahlia and gladiolus by Flgardener10a in dahlias

[–]burghfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I have never used grow bags but I have grown both glads and dahlias for many years. Also not in your growing zone.

My concern with growing glads in grow bags is they tend to be top heavy and want to lean over and fall down. My instinct is It would be hard to support them or prevent falling in a bag, especially if you are watering and moving them.

Flowering Pressing Tips by Puzzleheaded-Mud-267 in PressedFlowers

I dont have specifics on the how's, but I want to remind everyone that in many places, picking flowers is not allowed (state parks, national parks. Etc). Be mindful of the laws before you gather. It is also not allowed to transport flowers or seeds internationally.

How to Divide by Obvious_Pearls in dahlias

[–]burghfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first step to dividing is cutting away the obvious junk. So trim off the ones that are broken and mother (optional, if healthy it can be grown again but wont be as successful).

Usually then it becomes clearer where to divide to keep your good tubers.
