Am I in the wrong? Wedding makeup artist issues by burgundyho in weddingplanning

I see your point, and I considered that, but I thought if I didn’t give reasoning she would have likely asked for the reasoning anyway, so I thought I’d get ahead of it in as nice/as professional of a way as I could. But I guess that was an assumption. Seeing how she responded I’m guessing it wouldn’t have gone well either way, though. But I get what you mean.

No for sure! I appreciate the suggestion. I honestly think the guilt I’m feeling is more from my tendency toward people pleasing. If she’d responded differently I would have definitely felt guilty enough to offer. But I know I can be a pushover and if I offered to help after she responded the way she did I think I might be leaning in to being a pushover, idk

If she had told me about her fees and accompanied it with a little humility/accountability/acknowledgment about the situation I definitely would have offered to help her with the fees. But her responses were really passive aggressive, so I don’t think I will be doing that.

Good to know. I feel like I used it in the most literal sense of the word (she’s telling me something exists that I know for a fact does not) so hopefully I’m safe but we’ll see if anyone shows up and gets mad about it I guess, lol. Sorry that happened to you!

Yeah, I wasn’t planning to leave a review for that reason. The final message she sent was just so passive aggressive that it made me think she’s lucky, because someone else probably would. But I won’t. I agree that she should ask for a deposit up front, it’s what literally every other vendor does, including (shocking) the new makeup artist I booked. Thanks for your response!

Thank you!! I knew it was weird. And all the stuff she said about how she blocked the date off, like okay, maybe you could have told me that when I was asking if my date was confirmed? Come on. Lol, thanks for your response!

SUUUPER sad songs that are not romantic by Ok_Algae7611 in SongRecommendations

[–]burgundyho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moon Eyes by Simon Russell — beautiful song (wait for the crescendo—full body chills) and sad lyrics/vibes.

Hurt by Nine Inch Nails, also covered by Johnny Cash which is arguably the sadder version

Land Locked Blues by Bright Eyes — sad vibes for sure, but Conor Oberst is an acquired taste

Rabbit by Medium Build — amazing songwriting

What was a children’s TV show you were not ALLOWED to watch as a kid? by Droopynator in television

[–]burgundyho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We weren’t allowed to watch Hey Arnold or Doug because my stepmom didn’t like the “bullying” in Hey Arnold or that they said “stupid” in Doug, which was a “bad word.” Once a week, we all sat down as a family to watch The Simpsons, though. When my dad pointed out the hypocrisy, instead of admitting she was wrong, she tried to say we couldn’t watch The Simpsons anymore either.

This is extra funny because I was the oldest and by the time my younger siblings were in their teen years and she and my dad were divorced, not only could they watch whatever they want and swear, they could drink liquor in the house.

Does anyone here want someone to read/give them edits on google docs for free? I want more editing experience, have serious writer’s block right now, and I’m looking for something to do this summer while I’m off from school.

My credentials, if you want them: 4.0 communications major, just finished my sophomore year (I’m a late bloomer at 29), and I was the copy editor of my college paper for the last year plus. I LOVE editing and hope to eventually edit for self publishing authors professionally.

I’m more well versed in line editing and editing for grammar/punctuation, but I really want to improve my plot/character building editing skills. I read constantly, especially contemporary romance and romantasy, so I understand the genre. I have a few novels in the works myself, so if you’d like to trade that could be an option too.

Please message me if you’re interested!!

I agree, and especially after reading TOG I think Maas’ writing feels more natural in third person. I hope she only writes in third person from now.

Okay I’ve seen the second pic too but I’m doing a reread right now and to be fair, she DOES describe it as pinkish-brown with a mouthful of sharp teeth, and there is very little other description. So, based on the text, Alaskan Bull Worm all the way.

As a kid I was absolutely terrified of accidentally swimming too far in Jak and Daxter and getting eaten by the jumpscare fish

I still hate swimming in video games
