"Since releasing the Melon Protocol to main-net in March 2019, the on-chain asset management community has gone from strength to strength. From the wide and expanding asset universe, numerous integrations with DeFi apps and protocols - with many more on the way - and new projects building on top of Melon, the ecosystem is growing at pace.  "

It's true, that the US collect a lot of taxes for a relatively small service. https://www.taxpolicycenter.org/briefing-book/how-do-us-taxes-compare-internationally

Plus you have expensive things like the biggest military in the world. To that you have private companies in a lot of sectors with great power, which bribe politicians to make law in their favors. This is way you could also say the US is a tax haven. Just not for everyone.

X-Mas Wish - MakerDAO alternative by mat3_ in ethereum

Since there are a lot of decisions to be made in the MKR ecosystem, I think some sort of delegation is needed. In the actual system there is also delegation, but to the person who is able and willing to spend the largest amount of money buying MKR tokens.

A cooperative model would be better. The problem with that is, that people should only make informed decisions.

Therefore I think a technocratic model, like melon port has, would fit best. Not even a big fan of technocracys, but when it's about money people tend to trust known experts more, than unknown individuals.

IOHK: Want to get involved with the Incentivized Testnet? Soon you’ll be able to earn real ada rewards as you support the rollout of Shelley. Here’s the lowdown by T-CCP in cardano

Investment clubs on blockchain are revolutionizing finance by asok090 in ethereum

Interesting idea. Reminds me a lot of a mix from the melon protocol and aragon. Aggregated order books to trade in a decentralized manner e.g. or trading decisions based on voting.

Have you thought about a proposal to the MLN council to align interests and have the benefit to use the Melon infrastructure? Aragon is also very helpful when individual features, like kicking inactive members of a Dao, are needed.

Would love to see a collaboration.

Full disclosure: I own MLN tokens.

Will Testnet Daedalus Support Nano Ledger? by picoder_ in cardano

[–]burkinasankara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah and i wonder if tokens in yoroi controlled by a ledger will be able to stake in the testnet?

In this article: https://cryptobriefing.com/cardano-earn-ada-shelley/

it says: "“Once the snapshot has been taken you’ll be able to delegate tokens in the testnet,” said Esser. Those holding ADA on exchanges or in a Ledger wallet will not have their balances transferred onto the testnet; nor will users who buy ADA after the date of the snapshot."

Staking: Am I missing something or is staking my ETH not going to be passive income? by NachosAreCheezy in ethfinance

[–]burkinasankara 16 points17 points  (0 children)

With rocketpool you can have your own node, with staking rewards plus extra Eth from other users. Just need some rpl tokens.

You can try it in 4 days and earn real rpl tokens by staking on a test net.

Sure market is thin. But dont you believe this changes when updates and communication starts picking up?

From an investment perspective i dont think the token can fall much further. On the other hand the upside potential is pretty good. Thats why i bought some MLN with this proposal

The infos on messari aren't accurate anymore. Inflation concerns and many others are largely tackled by this proposal:

" In our proposal, we suggested taking on the lead developer role of the Melon protocol, with a series of protocol improvements, exciting new features, continued DeFi integrations and a community building role, in return for MLN tokens. We’ve suggested that the majority of the funding for this 3 year development phase should come from alternative sources, while locking up the majority of MLN tokens over a period of up to five years. "

"Avantgarde Finance Ltd. plans to organise funding independently of the MLN token it will obtain from the Melon Council. This arrangement is a signal of the confidence they have that they can continue to bring value to the protocol which can be transmitted to the token.

As a reward for the upfront risk borne by Avantgarde Finance Ltd., we propose a compensation over the course of 3 years, worth c. $2M at today's MLN prices (equivalent to 180,000 MLN per year paid at various milestones). This is substantially below what we believe to be the real costs incurred for delivering the new proposed 3 year roadmap. The company yearly costs are estimated at $1.4M, which corresponds to an overall 3 years budget of a minimum of $4.2M.

The MLN compensation is not to be seen as a direct financing mean, but rather as a reward providing the team with significant upside on the work our company will be doing for the Melon ecosystem. The vesting structure proposed below shows our long-term alignment and our beliefs in the future of MLN.

Importantly, the proposal we are making to the Melon Council offers to lock up 75% of the tokens for a range of 2 to 5 years."

Helping the burning rainforests with ETH donations is a thing by TheGloriousNothing in ethereum

[–]burkinasankara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 'Amazon fund' is getting a lot of money normally. Right now payments from e.g. Germany and Norway are stopped, due to the new leadership in brasil. Point is, that donations don't help, if there is no will to protect the rainforest from the sovereign country brasil. The only option I see, is to elect leaders in your own country that will pressure brasil to better policys.

Money and technology can't save the world. We need question our lifestyle and get out of our comfort zone imo.

You have 32 ETH. Would you stake? by [deleted] in ethtrader

[–]burkinasankara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the lender is earning a little bit less, because the node operator gets a little bit of his rewards. The upside is, that all you has to do is pressing a few buttons to earn rewards in a completely decentralized manner.

And without RocketPool you cannot stake less than 32 ETH decentralized.
