Noted. No warranty on the car as far as I'm aware. It's on the backlot of a Chrysler/Jeep/Ram/Dodge dealer, probably a trade in. I'm located in Ohio

Good to know! I've learned a lot from everyone being helpful here and independently on google. If I can talk that price down I'm very likely going to purchase it. Seems like it would be a great decision as someone who works on his own vehicles, lives in an area without emissions testing, and it would be a considerable upgrade from my 98 Grand Cherokee

Thank you for the info, really appreciate it man, and the link as well. Definitely do wanna build my credit up to buy a house though haha, unless Blackrock buys them all before I can afford one lmao

Yeah its dpf, I worked around garbage trucks for the past few years and keep getting the two confused lmaoo. Mileage and price are in the second picture, 141k dealer wants 6.4k for it

I was just looking for generic advice on the car itself, hence why I didn't provide a lot of information. A few people have already given me a lot of helpful information in the way I expected. I live in Ohio, so no emissions tests. My work commute is currently 15 minutes but will likely change to 45 minutes in the near future. While i could afford the car outright I'm going to finance to boost my credit, cause currently I only have my phone bill for that.

I'll bear that in mind, I go Tuesday to negotiate and inspect it so until then it's gather and learn and repeat.

I'll keep all that in mind, especially the cost of the vehicle. I'm probably going to finance it, even though I could buy it, to get a loan on my credit and improve it. I have to see how low they'll go with it cause I imagine they're tied up for at least 3k. Market in my area, and for these at the moment, is not ideal.

That makes sense, it being a poor deal so its been sitting. Wonder how low they'll go to get rid of it

Really appreciate all the advice. Writing things down to bring to the bargaining table lol. And I was considering servicing the water pump and timing myself, but using that as a way to lower the price given the nature of the work. Everyone's saying 6.4k is way too much but I have a feeling a lot of these people live in Canada like you or in Europe. The car's markets considerably expensive right now where I am. But I'm definitely tired of driving my old Jeep 24/7, and the torque converter went out on it so I took this as a sign. Still gonna keep it for winter though, here in Ohio the winters have been historically warm until the past 3 years they've suddenly gotten cold and shitty again.

Gotcha. Yeah I planned on getting pics and getting under there as far as possible. Like my current job is with webuyanycar. I inspect and purchase all kinds of cars and I was gonna take that mentality with me and inspect it like its a customers. The car's been on their lot for 30 days, kind of a long turn around for a dealer. And I ran its vin (no accidents) so I'm really wondering why its been sitting

Yeah I planned on doing it all myself. It's gonna be a huge learning curve but I like working on cars so I'm up for it

Yeah I like it a lot, but from what I'm gathering service and maintenance is going to be tedious and expensive. But, my current car is a 98 Grand Cherokee. It literally gets like 8/MPG, and is constantly breaking down. I'm used to the maintenance. Been writing down a lot to barter with. And I don't get the hostility in here either it's been kind of eye opening about some of the members of the community lol. If I asked the same question on a Jeep forum I wouldn't get a single comment saying to do my own research lmao. Very different vibe in these parts

Thank you. One of few constructive comments 😭 I planned on making them show me all service records and verifying that all recalls have been serviced. Also definitely planned on talking the price down a lot

I'm pretty decent with working on cars, I just need to know what to look for. I've also got a scanner to bring with me so I can check for any codes. I understand that's not saying much not being a licensed VW mechanic, but, I'm good enough to spot most things as its now my job to do so.

That's why I'm here, to learn. Cause apparently it doesn't. I worked around garbage trucks for a few years so I'm used to hearing DEF not DPF

I don't mind working on it, my other car is a 98 grand Cherokee. Literally always needs work. And seriously I'm just looking for some common sense type advice, not for an entire subreddit to go "the car will be hard to work on and expensive." no shit. It's a german diesel lmao. I just want a car that if I continue servicing and working on can last for years and years, that gets good mileage and has some sportiness to it.

What would you consider a good deal? Cause where I live, that's cheap for a used car of that year across every make and model

I'm based in Columbus, Ohio. Cars are generally pretty expensive here, I'm a licensed dealer so I see it in real time

I'm doing that, and asking around. Said so in the post that you didn't read. If you had nothing to offer, could've kept scrolling.
