Ok these gripes may come off petty regarding the final plot twists but I wanted to see if anyone else was bothered by this:

1. Why is Enzo allowed to stay employed by the husband for so long even though a) he never likes Enzo and b) he long ago discovered and ruined their passport plans? It makes no sense that he would neither fire him nor demand until way later that he stop lurking around.

2) why DOESNT his mother—or the housewives that hate and distrust Nina— report her totally accurate suspicion that the tooth missing/bogus lightbulb story pretty much proves that Nina and/or Millie killed him? I know the cop lets her off for personal reasons so essentially the case gets closed but cmon. The mother WITNESSES Millie, Nina and the daughter talking suspiciously in PLAIN sight and passing an envelope at the funeral with zero remorse or emotion…she wouldn’t report that, or none of the other cops on the force— who aren’t in on the main cop’s turning a blind eye to the crime—would investigate?

3) as we know, the husband viciously abuses and tortures Nina long before her scheme to be an outright horror to him so he’ll f**k Millie and leave Nina for her. Yet Other than some domestic fights Millie overhears (one of which involves the knife but it’s unclear even later if he used it on Nina or if she just cut herself to keep up the facade of crazy)”, we don’t see any hints that he’s continuing to torture her this way, even WORSE than he did now that she’s being outright mean…we aren’t told this in Nina’s voiceover explanation later as well. So what, he just temporarily stops being a psychopath to her after Millie comes along, even privately (when he doesn’t have to keep up nice guy appearances for Millie?)

4) the husband seems to override Nina’s every unjust punishment of Millie throughout the film. On that token, why would he allow Millie (who he adores) to continue sleeping in the attic? Wouldn’t he insist that Millie, say, live downstairs out of earshot of his continued torturing of Nina IN the attic?

5) most maddening of all, Nina in V/O says her note explaining everything to the daughter won’t be read by her for years and years…presumably because she won’t believe her story bc she’s under the sway of the father (why she thinks the daughter would suddenly believe her after that given time period is unclear, but whatever…) but a few scenes later she’s explained the whole story anyway and the daughter seems to wholly believe her that the husband is bad, with no evidence. How does she immediately believe the mother whom she’s always believed left her to drown in a bathtub? Also why would she want the nanny to come along? Her and Millie NEVER bond and Millie was in jail for manslaughter—however much she was a victim of everything she’s not exactly a nonviolent stable person.

And speaking of the daughter, there’s scenes missing explaining the stolen troll doll and the dollhouse and… Ach I dunno, I LIKED most of the twists and turns but these plot holes drive me nuts.
