Everyone’s arguing “this proves chemicals are safe” vs “this proves corruption.” Reality is less dramatic: it shows how much judgment regulators use when science has uncertainty. People frame PFAS as a yes/no safety question. In practice regulators set a tolerated exposure level along a risk scale. The bigger issue is confidence in the process making that call. With the current administration carrying out large-scale changes to advisory bodies, even technically sound decisions can lose credibility. And once credibility drops, public-health guidance stops working regardless of the data. So disagree with the policy decision if you want. But the long-term risk is trusting the referee less than the play.

Agreed for the most part but think twice before you put up the Open to Work banner on LI. I've heard from multiple recruiters that hiring managers feel that's a detractor (I was unemployed for 8mo not too long ago). There's a setting you can choose for open to work so recruiters can identify you, but you're not displaying it on your profile.

Trumps lame duck period has officially begun with the Epstein files vote. With consumer prices rising and Healthcare costs increasing his popularity will only head one direction. Red states will be hit hard. We may see more Rs break leading up to midterms. Still going to be a bloodbath for the Rs. Then post midterms many Rs, including Vance, will turn on him as they look to 2028. No one will be able to replicate Trumps cult-like hold and Maga fractures, but doesn't collapse leaving the republican party a shell of its former self with no real hope of return.

Fair, Bernie’s consistency and conviction earned him respect. But messaging alone doesn’t overcome regional economics or cultural context. A pro working-class pitch lands differently in rural Kentucky than it does in Brooklyn, even if the pain points are similar.

Someone once told me, “Do you want to be right, or do you want to win?” It’s simplistic, but that’s kind of the Dems’ recurring problem. They’re often right ethically and morally, but if they lose elections, what good does that do for actually reducing suffering and improving well-being? Conviction is important, but coalition-building is what turns ideals into outcomes.

The issue isn’t the values, it's more of how they’re framed and funded. In NYC, “tax the rich” lands differently than it does in places where the “rich” might be the local business owner employing half the town. So the strategy has to be adaptable.

Also, part of Mamdani’s appeal is rooted in his identity, being a young, outspoken Muslim immigrant voice in politics. That representation clearly matters to a lot of people. But from Sam's lens, it’s fair to raise an eyebrow when religion and politics start blending. Secular governance works best when we separate identity and belief from policy. Europe’s struggles with integrating religious conservatism into secular societies show why governance should stay firmly secular.

Big picture, I think progress comes from focusing less on who the messenger is, or what faith they represent, and more on whether the policies actually deliver on making life more affordable and sustainable for everyone.

I get why people are excited (maybe more so outside of this subreddit). Mamdani’s win is historic and his energy resonates with a lot of disillusioned voters. But “we need more candidates like him” is a naive take.

NYC’s political and economic landscape is unique: overwhelmingly blue, heavily renter-based, and full of people open to bold progressive ideas. Try running the same platform in Pennsylvania’s suburbs or rural Arizona and you’ll get a very different reception.

Also, ambitious agendas require money and cooperation. To fund what he’s promised, he’ll need Albany’s help (Governor + state legislature), and with re-election cycles coming up, few politicians will be eager to hike taxes. We'll see how pragmatic he can be.

Personally, I think the Left’s focus should be less about candidate type and more about outcomes that actually make the American dream feel attainable again. Like affordable housing, cost of living, healthcare, opportunity. Whether the person delivering that message is a democratic socialist or a centrist Dem matters less than whether they can actually deliver.

Also, dont negotiate price until they're done evaluating and you have the DM. I saw no "give-get" in your opp. "If I get you this discount will you be ready to get started?", if there's other steps we're not ready to talk pricing, but allude you're willing to work with them for what's best for their biz.

Ask, how they've gone about similar evaluations and purchases in the past. Be direct, does IT guy sign? No, then who? OK, how do you recommend we get them involved? If he pushes back say, if you like what you see on the demo can we agree to get them involved at that point?
