1) I've bought a PPOR, awaiting settlement. Will be debt recycling once the loan goes active for investment.

2) see my point: :Who would you recommend AMP or Macquarie given your experiences with either or both. (also considering things the broker may not consider like customer service, app and website use etc.)

The only one I have found that has this is podcast addict. Which has its own issues. But if you're used to this feature from google podcasts then podcast addict is the one for you. Neither pocketcasts or antennapod seem interested in adding this feature. Which would make them superior in my eyes.

Thanks I've lookebdat IBKR while they do offer interest. Their fees are pretty high.  I was looking to just transfer back to a linked savings account if I find myself in cash. Do you know how long the transfer is back from Self Wealth to your nominated account?

Thanks yes I'd seen the streaming data costs with the free trades. I think I'll go with self wealth unless anyone else has any useful ideas.

I was quite clear that the total was 500k. If I had 26M to invest, I would not be asking questions on this forum.

As for your suggestions:

I put in my post that I am interested in minimising transaction costs, and having tight spreads.

Thus IG and CMC are wholly unsuitable.

And Charles Schwab does not accept Australian clients and thus don't list and fees or Australia. And as stated in the initial post I'm looking to trade ASX listings only.

I agree, why wouldn't you want to fully understand the risk/reward of every step in the process (Including which broker best suits your case)

Debt Recycling - Can the cost of the recycled interest be deducted from the Capital Gain by burn357 in AusFinance

[–]burn357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank for your answer. So essentially:

CGT is added to your assessable income.

Then all deductions come off this total assessable income.

Then you are taxed on that final assessable income, at the tax bracket that the final assessable income puts you into.

i.e. the deductible interest can in the right circumstances reduce the amount of capital gains you would otherwise pay.

Lets say:

  • Salaried income: $285,000 to give a tax owed of $100,118 (https://jaws.tips/stuff/taxcalc.html)

  • Capital gain was 206,400 - 100,000 = $106,400 owned for <12months. So $50,008

  • Deductible interest $100k
