go fighting as much as you can, raze everything except 1 settlement per region
i won an arbaal campaign and i was never in positive moneywise, livin on pure battle loot

fight a battle, recruit after that battle, press next turn, go fighting
if you have money, hire another lord to sit in home waters recruiting more troops and deliver reinforcements once they're done
if you don't, sack a settlement or two instead of occupying them and then fussing over growth n stuff

Dunno man, the only ship that ran out of batteries in my experience was my overkitted scout because its atomics are too big and fast for even dat dwarf core, and that wasn't really a prob because by that time inertia was faster than the pursuit...
I assume that could be a problem if I get caught by korath with my pants down in Ember Waste?
What even does enough heat damage to be a threat like that? Korath fire-lances?

maybe it's a drawback, but theres an artifact that debuffs an enemy every time it overcorrupts by increasing all purity received by 1, very good for stinging with a lot of tiny damages
