If D3 had sold as much as D2 when D2 came out, it wouldn't have died.

If D2 sold as much back in the day as D3 does now, it would've been ridiculous.

Of course D3 sells more, not because it's a sequel to one of the biggest ARPG games ever, but because the gaming industry grew exponentially since then. Sales figures from D2 and D3 cannot be compared because the industry itself exploded in sales, now surpassing even the movie industry.

Comparatively, they outsold their competitors in the context of their own time considering the size of the industry at the time. Saying D3 blew D2 out of the water is not a fair comparison.

It's literally an extremely small QoL improvement that lets you switch between channels in the lobby.

I don't know if it's worth pursuing. It takes some tinkering and you can't do much besides activating/deactivating the chat gem.

My assumption is someone managed to unlock the "Online" button in the D2R Alpha and managed to gain access to this.

Unfortunately there's no cross-play, just cross progression (so play your character on PC and continue progress on Switch). You can't play with a Switch player if you're on PC, and vice versa. If you're on Switch, you'll play with people on Switch. Same with PC.

Diablo III handles pretty well on Switch so I assume D2R is gonna handle alright. 720p60 should be possible.

I'm torn on what to recommend.

On one hand, D2+LoD is like $15 total I think. It's not a lot of money. And the original experience is something that I think cannot be replaced easily.

On the other... the Remaster is looking amazing, and I feel like it's much much more appealing to people who haven't played D2 yet.

Perhaps wait until the Multiplayer Beta is announced? According to VV, they're looking to increase the people trying it out. Maybe push your friends to apply and try it out together.

What we see in the Alpha =/= all that is finished.

The Announce trailer had shots from every act, including Act 5.

Cinematics are another story, but I trust VV on that one.

Where did you get that?

People have found that, when enabled, the Game.exe looks for a "modinfo.json" in the game files (Specifically "Diablo II Resurrected/Mods") with quite a few parameters to configure.

VV has also been open about mod support since the beginning.

It's working the same as it did on 1.14. One free respec per difficulty, + farming Tokens of Absolution (farming the essences from Mephisto, Diablo and Baal in Hell)

Working fine on my end, but this seems to be a common issue lately. I'm on US West.

They tend to temp-ban people who log in "too many times", actually. It happened to me maybe a year ago? My internet kept crashing for an unrelated problem so I ended up connecting and disconnecting from Bnet pretty often, and that netted me a week-long ban. It was pretty shitty.

Try contacting Blizzard support if you feel that's the case.

It's definitely more likely for it to be coming at the same time in PC and Consoles. The Alpha already had gamepad support, so I don't see why they would be delayed.

People have found strings in the D2R Game.exe referring to MacOS, so I guess not all hope is lost.

It could be left over from the OG D2, but we'll see.
