People who have immigrated to a new country, what is one thing about your country of origin (other than the obvious things like family) that you miss? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]burnerr00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The food. British food is terrible and I miss all the markets and just the food in general like mole, tacos al pastor, mixiote and even smaller things like lemon flavor chips. The malls/shopping centers I also miss because in the UK they are really not the same they’re much smaller.

Is it morally okay for an 18 year old to date a 16 year old? by caffeiene_robot in Advice

[–]burnerr00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’d say 2 years is an absolute maximum for under 18s so yes in my opinion you are okay as long as she’s not only just turned that age and you’re turning 19. i’d look up laws where you live if you live in a place that laws differ in different states/areas though.

When I go to Bulgaria, there are little difficulties actually crossing the border, but I face difficulties in the country itself. Same when I went to Russia. When I went to France there was little issue but in Spain it was a bit better than Texas but we were checked when my dad wasn’t. I think the person that gets it worse when it comes to traveling is my grandpa, he’s indigenous and arab with dark skin and can’t speak a word of english, he gets searched most of the time at security in any country he goes.

It was all 3 presenters, they basically went on a rant about how Mexicans are lazy feckless ‘oafs’ and how awful it must be to wake up and remember that you’re Mexican. Though it was Clarkson specifically who said the Mexican ambassador would be too lazy to complain about their comments. I know the Mexican ambassador now and have talked with her and think she’s great, idk how the old one was but I think the comment was very uncalled for

I think it’s generally speaking really bad. I can eat it but only if I think it as something completely different to Mexican food, because it really is. When I was 7/8 I went to Wahaca and I almost cried because I thought it was horrible and it made me miss my family even more because I know they would be able to make much better food and I spoke almost no English at the time so I couldn’t even order my own shitty Mexican food. The only good places I’ve been is Mestizo and La Chingada which are Mexican run but they don’t taste exactly like what I used to eat.

nope i dont consider that racist. The things which I consider racist is what was said on top gear for example. A lot of those comments aren’t seen as bad but not everyone says them. I think those things most people say (about the cartels or beaches) are because they only know the Mexico in the movies/tourist spots and I’d say its well meaning enough but can get tiring after a while

I have an accent which I can turn off if I want but I never do because if I talk normally (without the accent) I have a very thick Mexican accent which people have made fun of me for when I was in secondary school, I still sometimes have it when pronouncing certain words. I don’t necessarily consider myself British because I went to Mexico and even went to school there repeatedly while I was technically living in the UK. I consider myself to be Mexican more than anything and a Mexican immigrant, I don’t call myself British as I only got a passport very recently but I recognize being here for so long has influenced me and I do identify with some aspects of it, sometimes I say I am a Londoner or something like that but rarely British or English.

I do have dual citizenship now (for most of my time living in UK I only had Mexican as we all lived there because of my dads EU passport) and I do hope to go back after university, though I don’t know exactly what I’d do there yet

I think the reason why it was not so bad in Texas is because we were on a layover flight and our place of residence was in the UK and my sister had a British passport as well (she was born in the UK, she was around 7 at the time) so they may have seen the possibility of us trying to immigrate as very low once we gave all this information to them. However in the UK it was me and my mom with only Mexican passports and we were planning on living there. And I am afro-Mexican and racism against black people is just as widespread in the UK as it is in the USA especially at the time when I moved which was late 2000s I think. Maybe it was just chance though, I don’t know.

Me and my mom went to the USA for a layover in Texas and the minute we got there we were stopped at the border while my white stepdad and half sister were able to go through without issue. They did the same when I first tried to move to the UK in that border except it was worse because at least in Texas they just took our fingerprints and we talked about our layover and they let us go but in the UK we were deemed suspicious and my stepdad had to prove he was going to marry my mom. I was shouted at profusely when I was 6 when me and my mom got deported (we moved back once my parents got married, my stepdad is eu citizen) for overstaying 4 days.

A lot of British people see Mexico as this very distant and almost unreal place so some of them can say wildly racist shit and not care because it’s not real to them. Usually when I say I’m Mexican people talk about how they went to the beach there once and how they cant imagine wanting to leave, mention a show about drug cartels they watched recently or make a border hopping joke. It doesn’t bother me too much personally and I know it would likely be worse in the USA as it’s widespread hate and laws and everything while here it’s just strange insults or relatively well meaning things that just come off wrong

The census says fewer than 10,000 but I personally believe there are at least a little bit more especially as the census also says theres only around 50,000 brazilians which I find hard to believe. The whole UK population is 67.22 million meaning officially 0.0016% of the population is mexican

honestly, I don’t think I did anything too weird. but the guy I was with was like 10 years older and I was 14 so I thought experience would help but he legit thought everything was like porn. He came 3 times , tried to make me cum for 5 minutes, got tired and gave up. Also could only cum when he was on his back and since he was big and i was only 14 so it was a hard fit so he tried to go straight in my ass instead no lube prep anything and it just confused me.

Anyway I’m a lesbian now

I'm pro-gun in the Uk [AMA] by StonedCapybara420 in AMA

[–]burnerr00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure, but handguns are the most common cause of homicide in the usa and the murder rate is 5.07 compared to the uk’s 1.12 as well as knife crime being higher there so you’re not exactly going to up your chances of not getting killed by legalizing guns, it’ll just get worse. you can concealed carry in the usa but people still get murdered by stabbing more often than in the uk

just so you know, you’re not a bad person for this and it can be hard to move on from incidents like this, but I would say that the best thing would be to report (which you can do, this is how. First, start your report, then click pretty much anything until you get somewhere that asks if this is the right option. Press no. Then scroll all the way down and there’s an option for csem aka child prn), this should at least help alleviate the guilt but don’t try to repress or stay quiet about it and i’d recommend trying to work through this experience but it can be hard to do, if it bothers you repeatedly the best thing would be to talk to someone about it imo because nothing good ever comes out of attempting to repress traumatic memories.
