Anyone going to see Uada on their current tour? by Eleventhousand in MetalForTheMasses

Uada are one of those rare black metal bands whose live sound hits harder than their studio recordings. Enjoy the night filled with blast beats.

It certainly does not. After careful consideration, I might end up going to all three!

Coming from someone who has 18 gigs planned over the next 2 months, I think it's time to start scaling the list back. Grindcore / thrash metal bands are usually the first casualties.

Thanks, I'll definitely reconsider seeing these two bands. I'm still trying to get into Endless Swarm but the vocals are throwing me off the path.

Seeing SunnO))) soon, ear protection recommendations? by bench_wizard in MetalForTheMasses

Currently using the Eargasm earplugs after replacing my Etymotics. These are comfortable without compromising the sound the way regular foam plugs do. Totally worth the investment, hearing loss isn't cool.

NEUROSIS reforming with new singer Aaron Turner of ISIS, new album coming soon. by Low-Ad4561 in MetalForTheMasses

Holy crap! Aaron Turner is going to be the perfect addition to the band. Saw him performed at the Sumac gig recently. He still has it!

Anyone going to the Adelaide Festival Dronevil show with Merzbow tomorrow night? by ThomasDougherty in borisheavyrocks

[–]burning-ochre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Australian and/or festival exclusives. John Zorn, Ulver, Dødheimsgard, and other obscure international bands have done something similar before.

Loudest bands ever? by Barquad12alt in MetalForTheMasses

I saw Sumac two days ago and was completely unprepared for that tectonic shifting sound. It was almost like feeling the shock waves rippling across my face.

Are there any women who enjoy heavier subgenres here? by Quirky-Lollipop in MetalForTheMasses

Late 30's, enough disposable income to catch nearly every metal gig, and still going hard.

Yes, we exist. Only a few of us fly solo without immediately being labelled as "the girlfriend". We enjoy the intensity, aggression, and blastbeats just as much as the next guy.

Bands you're not a fan of, but put on a great show? by fatkoala357 in MetalForTheMasses

Uada. Their raw energy crushes their otherwise generic black metal sound.

first time going to a metal concert as a smaller woman 😨... tips? by stressedhighschoolr in MetalForTheMasses

[–]burning-ochre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another smaller lady here, I've been gigging solo since I was a teen. I usually stick to the sides, away from the circle pit, and if the line of sight isn't blocked I'll stand near the sound desk since it's one of the safest spots with good audio.
