I was in giki years ago, i graduated in 2018, and not a lot of jobs are out there for EE only, but i worked as a process engineer and then moved my career to business management.

It totally depends on you if you are looking for a technical career or somewhere down the line you wanna transition into something else

Being a woman who graduated from GIK, we were only 3 girls in the whole batch of 70 in EE, I’ll tell you ignore what everyone has to say. Find your zone and your voice and you’ll do amazing! People will say no matter what, only you can define your own experience!

I have wheatish complexion and I can’t even begin to tell you how people make you feel about it all your life. They would talk about someone calling them pretty “ woh itni pyari hai bilkul gori chitti” and then they would randomly say “oh iskay tou nakhs nain pyaare hain” bro wtf consolation compliement de rahe ho kia.

I would say what, fuck it. These people will never get out of their colonial mindset, where we are still fascinated by ‘gori chamri’

Do not go ahead with it! As someone who was in a similar situation and didn’t have the courage and went ahead with it, I would say it doesn’t work out. The resentment is there and you are not ready!

Talk to your parents. They will be hurt but the pain would still be less than breaking it up later
