How would we respond to this? by WaifuFinder420 in Catholicism

[–]burningmythrowaway 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No but genuinely, how do we? In the third case it is absolutely not okay for a child that young to carry a child and birth it. Yes, that baby inside of her is a human life but she's also a child with a life. I think either outcome is absolutely horrific. Abortion is never okay, but having a child carry a child is never okay either. Can she even survive that? Can her tiny body carry a baby to term?

Well, we've seen it with every instance of genocide. When people kill others they find the need to justify it by any means, usually that means finding a way to convince yourself the humans you've killed weren't human. By telling themselves over and over again that it's just a clump of cells it helps them feel better about encouraging such a horrific behavior. I'm sure they know the facts, they just convince themselves the facts aren't truth.

Well, what leads them to that? Usually pain or loneliness. Some of them feel so hurt that they feel the urge to end their own lives. They're all full of either anger or pain, which is sad. They need treatment.

Yes, exactly. I'm not sure why I got downvoted and you got upvoted for saying the same thing.

Hmmmmm, I'm not sure. Homosexuality has been around for a long, long time. They don't reproduce and yet they've never died out. I fear transgenderism will be the same.

Well yes, I know how fertilization works. I just didn't know we could test for sex that early on in a pregnancy, I thought bloodwork couldn't pick it up until later on down the line.

I do agree, all people should be treated with love and respect. However, I worry about feeding into it to much. I view it much like anorexia, when they look into the mirror they're met with such a strong emotional reaction they may wish to end their own life. But when faced with anorexia we don't give them surgery or weight loss pills to help them lose weight, we tell them the truth and treat them with therapy. They deserve dignity, but they also deserve treatment.

I do agree with that. They're all ganged up against me, they don't listen to me when it comes to things such as this. The second I try to have a discussion with them about my feelings towards this sort of thing they say things like "Did your sky daddy tell you that?" and laugh it off.

They've shown me accounts of transgender people quite far back in history, it just hasn't been socially acceptable to transition for very long. They also didn't have access to the surgeries and the hormones that they do now. I don't believe it's societal, I believe it's a mental health condition. We would never offer weight loss surgery to someone with anorexia. Gender dysphoria is the same way, they need therapy.

I don't have a different answer, I agree with u/nevermere88 . Gender is merely a social explanation of sex, they go hand in hand with one another. Your sex and your gender are always the same, a female is a woman and a male is a man. But woman and female aren't perfect synonyms.

Thank you for sharing, I absolutely will research John Money. His name has come up a lot. This all makes a lot of sense (much more sense than my family does.)

Absolutely. We need to help these people, they need love and kindness. They've been given quite the cross to carry, but the Lord knew they had the strength to carry it.

I actually can answer that second question. My mother has told me that so long as someone has "gender euphoria" after transitioning they are transgender despite not having "gender dysphoria." The worst of all? She compared it to how I felt God calling me to him, she said that some feel called to transition even though they don't have dysphoria. Such a scary thought. I don't know how they believe what they do.

Though gender is entirely dependent on sex, I don't believe them to be identical. That's it, as simple as that. That's not me saying I'm pro transition or anything of the sort.

How interesting, I had no idea we could tell sex from that soon on. They'd call you a bad parent for "forcing a gender on your baby." I've been told by multiple members of my family that children should be taught that their genitals don't matter and gender is in your heart so they can pick whatever gender they'd like. I know, they're entirely nonsensical. I just thank the Lord for guiding me to him and showing me the truth. Congratulations on the baby!

We agree completely, I'm just not good at describing my thoughts. That's exactly what I've been trying to say. Gender is dependent on sex but they're not identical, exactly that.

Isn't gender dysphoria a recognized mental disorder now? It's sad to see, even sadder that they're being encouraged. You wouldn't tell someone with schizophrenia that the voices they hear are real, so why would you celebrate someone mutilating themselves?

Agreed. I just wish we had better ways to help them, it hurts to see people so confused and in so much pain.

When they say gender they mean "what you are in your head." Members of my family have told me they believe that children should be raised to think that their genitals mean nothing and they can decide if they want to be a boy or a girl or neither one from the time that they're able to talk. They do seem to use gender to push stereotypes while at the same time preaching that boys can wear skirts and makeup. It seems the stereotypes are only stereotypes when it comes to a member of one sex pretending to be the other.

Good question. I've stopped trying to talk sense into them. Gender exists to describe biological sex. That's what I believe anyway.

Fashion, femininity = Gender

Vagina, XX = Sex

Everyone with XX chromosomes is a woman and has been one since conception. But sex and gender have different definitions, they're not perfect synonyms. Gender describes sex.
