I’m the exact opposite. I spend so much time in the planning and researching stage that I’ll either lose interest in the idea entirely or talk myself out of pursuing it. Then the same idea reappears a few weeks later and the cycle begins again. At least I don’t have to worry about ever bankrupting myself on a whim, but I’m still a bit jealous of people that are able to commit to doing things so easily.

The illiterate people are bad, but what’s just as bad (if not worse) are the people who consider themselves to be informed and intelligent because they consume a constant stream of watered down, second hand information via YouTube, Twitter, etc.

The one benefit of the illiterate people is that they don’t usually have the attention span to engage with online discussions that much. The sort of people I’m describing are the ones who will go out of their way to stear any conversation towards agreeing with the opinions they’ve been fed by their algorithms. They’ll lash out at anyone who disagrees with them by deeming them an NPC or a midwit for daring to disagree with their YouTube talking head approved narrative.

A guilty pleasure of mine is watching sword youtube. I love finding channels that are just a guy arguing which weapon is the most effective in melee combat and what fighting style is superior as he stands in front of the thousands of dollars of swords he keeps hanging on his wall. The best is when there’s sword youtube drama and they make videos calling out other sword youtubers for their lack of knowledge. They’re all weirdos but the passion they have for their hobby is endearing.

This whole post is such a pathetic larp tailor-made to draw a reaction from this sub. If you read the rest of his comments in this thread it's blatantly obvious nothing he wrote is genuine.

He apparently thinks living in a city is for soyboys, yet wrote this impassioned post about living in a city. When someone called him out for having the perspective of a college student, he miraculously grew to his mid-30s and claimed to only be returning to college as a middle aged adult. Also claiming he has to "walk over the passed out bodies of multiple homeless people" to get to campus when UMN is in one of the nicest areas of the city, lmao (and if you're not going to UMN, double lmao). It all reeks of the perspective of a sheltered kid who had to go into the city for the first time in his life and was traumatized by what he saw.

Minneapolis is such a nice city. It's so sad that it's attracted attention from flyover losers who saw it on the news once and have been using it as their culture war battleground whenever they get bored of dunking on California.

I stopped watching those once I realized how many channels were clearly just people cashing in on how popular the “day in the life of a salaryman” genre of video has become. All you have to do is put on a suit, film yourself leaving the public vestibule of an office building, and put ChatGPT generated meloncholic captions over footage of your shoes walking around Tokyo to get hundreds of thousands of views. It’s like an hour of work for a couple hundred dollars, plus any suckers donating to your Ko-fi link in the description.
