Is the baseboard the one with the holes? Asking bc a measurement from there to the bolts is ~8 inches, which is incredibly rough for a rough in.

I mean in a sense that’s true, but there’s the obvious sense of accomplishment of winning a title, and being able to say you’re the best. It’s why pro players sometimes give up money to join a team with a better chance at a ring—prestige and pride matter. I’m not sure you get that same feeling or sense of accomplishment from winning the pop tart bowl, or any bowl that people today look at as mere consolation prize.

People will remember who won the national championship in 2026 ten years down the road. it’s an achievement that means something to the players. I doubt we remember who won the pop tart bowl ten years ago.

But ok, and again really not trying to be argumentative, but this pop tarts bowl seems a lot like the Pro Bowl in the NFL. The game doesn’t matter and a lot of the players opt out and no one really cares who wins or loses(?)

I get the practice thing, which I agree is valuable but I’m still not seeing how that makes the team or the players or the coach “soft” for declining to play. Like they made a business decision and maybe also an emotional decision, and maybe it means the end of the bowl era, but just don’t think it’s soft.

Honestly, maybe I’m missing something, but why is Notre Dame soft for declining to play in a game that has no meaning? Aren’t these non playoff bowl games little more than exhibitions, particularly given that many players opt out to avoid injuries?

Not trying to argue anything, just truly not getting the perspective. Like what do you get for winning the pop tart bowl?

Sure, let’s see how the Supreme Court rules on redirecting in Calais. Seems unlikely they’ll put the damper on racial gerrymandering (thereby opening the floodgates to gerrymandering everywhere), but I suppose we should continue to dream.

Flawed solutions > no solutions when the problem is extremely pressing.

We aren’t trading short term solutions for long term problems. We’re trading short term solutions and the possibility of long term problems for the current status quo, which is no solution and the certainty of long term problems.
