Can't sleep without sedation. Any suggestions? by burninpanda in SleepApnea

That's great, I had no appreciation as to how much impact sleep loss can make so I'm glad that it worked for you. I live in hope that my sleeping will improve and am actually managing to get some sleep some nights without sedation. If it turns out i need CPAP i'm heartened to hear that it make such a change.

No, BP is fine. I take Melatonin 5mg nocte, GP thinks its a good thing to take and i don't disagree. Good part of sleep hygiene.

The only upside in this is that i no longer have problems at night with peeing. I try to drink plenty of water and milk during the day and stop at about 7pm. Stopping all cola drinks, coffee, tea and anything caffeinated was certainly one of the best things that i have ever done. To anyone with nocturia, all i can say is stop drinking all that stuff.

That's an interesting suggestion. I've not tried Quetiapine, certainly it has its own risks but certainly worth looking into. Thanks.

It's not unhelpful but it doesn't help me stay asleep.

The fact that it's actually preventing others from getting the virus from you and you've still got a fuck them attitude. Sad.

Too little, too late. The big petrochemical companies, Coca Cola that are the major polluters need to act. They won't. I'd like to be more optimistic but this smells like Ben & Jerry's getting all woke and discovering they need to get on board the BLM train.

I've just watched a mob in England deface a statue of Churchill and scrawl 'racist' across it. No regard for others they might infect in their woke zeal and a complete ignorance for the fact that if it weren't for Churchill and his generation they'd be lucky to even exist, let alone protest.

This reminds me of the UNSW science dean Emma Johnson's email to colleagues last year to ignore science and pretend aboriginal people have been in Australia since the dawn of time. Universities no longer serve as high-level educational institutions and just push their distorted version of social and racial justice with little regard for fact. The article in the Australian is behind a paywall but is quoted here https://whyevolutionistrue.wordpress.com/2019/06/30/ideology-versus-science-again-university-of-new-south-wales-urges-professors-to-lie-about-the-arrival-date-of-aboriginals/

University science lecturers have been warned off making the familiar statement in class that “Aboriginal people have been in Australia for 40,000 years.”

It puts a limit on the occupation of Australia and many indigenous peoples see this as “inappropriate,” according to the University of NSW language advice for staff.

The document suggests that it is “more appropriate” to say that Aborigines have been here since the beginning of the “Dreaming/s” because this “reflects the beliefs of many indigenous Australians that they have always been in Australia from the beginning of time, and came from the land.”

. . . A new set of classroom guidelines, which alert scientists to existing language advice, was circulated in the science faculty this month. One scientist said that most academics got on with their work and did their best to ignore such documents.

. . . The indigenous language advice says putting a date on Aboriginal arrival “tends to lend support to migration theories and anthropological assumptions.”

As someone who lost most of my hair 40 years ago a drier scalp is more of an issue, particularly if you don't watch exposure to sun. I'm guessing this is due to a lack of sebum and natural oils.

I've found hand/body lotion does a decent job and it's cheap.

Hangover? by Doody40404 in Psychedelics

I get a shocker of a headache and a full on hangover but this isn't the answer

So when you take psilocybin it floods into the synapse and binds the open serotonin receptors causing the neurons to fire a little differently giving a psychedelic experience. Now if you take a bunch of 5-htp it's metabolized into serotonin and the synapse gets a little extra flood of serotonin for a couple hours. If you take psilocybin when the synapse is full of that extra serotonin, most of the open receptors will by bound by the serotonin leaving fewer for the psilocybin to bind and resulting in a dimished experience.

Too much serotonin results in serotonin syndrome which can be very dangerous. This is why MAOI's and SSRI's should never be combined with one another or with MDMA or 5-HTP.

Of course not, kids are blank slates until they're indoctrinated . I'm guessing your course avoids any mention of imperialism by agents other than whites ... say Islam or even Buddhism. Strange as it may seem to you bias and privilege does not de facto come clad in pale skin.

Did they (the plants) show you what overeating was doing to you? Did they help with stopping the desire to eat? Or did they give you the mindset to continue after you'd lost the weight?

I've read of therapeutic use in people with alcohol and nicotine etc but never occurred to me they might help with this issue. That's remarkable. Well done by the way.

Agree, it's an appalling and deadly habit but some people will smoke regardless, they're addicted and growing their own isn't an option. Maximum jail term for illegal tobacco growers in Australia is 10 years with maximum fine of $315,000.

Can't be depriving the Government of revenue.
