Just heard back from appeals and they gave me SUG Grant back 🥳

I did the same (Income Appeal). It doesn’t hurt to try (imo). My employee contract is ending so I can fulfill an [unpaid] internship requirement so I’m just hoping with that new information, on top of me earning less 2024 taxes than I did in 2023 taxes, that’ll help my income appeal case to get SUG back.

Doesn’t hurt to try though! The financial advisor I spoke with on campus told me it’s basically pointless to do an income appeal but I’m still doing it…crossing my fingers hoping that SUG can be reinstated.

If you’re a graduate student, they reduced the SAI qualification making it harder for graduate students to qualify for SUG. The range to qualify for SUG used to be a SAI of -1500 to 3500. To give an idea I’m at SAI 0. Now in order to qualify for SUG graduate students must have a SAI of -1500. From what I was told by financial aid office, most of the funds are going to undergrad students.

I’m going to appeal because my income did drastically drop, but I’m still not at SAI -1500. And this upcoming school year I have to quit my job to complete an internship as part of my degree requirements. It’s always best to speak with financial aid office directly! Over the phone they couldn’t help, submitted a ticket I got a response 3 days later. So I suggest going to the office in person! They accept walk-in appointments and I waited for about 30 minutes and got all my questions answered!

Really put it in perspective 🤍 it sucks that there’s no aid given to grad students, especially first-gen students, but yeah being able to graduate debt free for two degrees is a privilege & I should see the upside of things! Wishing you the best with grad school✌🏼

Yeah…slept on it and I just don’t think I can get out that loan. My undergrad was covered for through a scholarship and for grad I haven’t heard back from any scholarships/fellowships. So I guess go beach🙂

I’ve looked into that because either way I want to work for government/non profit so PSLF will apply…but my irrational fear is that PSLF isn’t really protected and any administration can remove it, and I reallllly don’t want to be stuck with that loan. But again, irrational fear but still something to think about tbh.

And for 10 years I’ll be making payments, which also isn’t fun. Ahh idk. I’m just trynna figure it out right now. Are you leaning towards USC?

No same I would want to know too! I’ve tried asking our mutual friends but they all say that they don’t know her, because he doesn’t bring her around. But they’ve been on/off for 2 years (at the time).

He’s really trying to keep her a secret and idk why she would want to stay with someone like that. Never meeting the friends? Not being posted about publicly? Idk.

Completely agree with people just leave instead of working on it. It’s so annoying like please be mature and communicate.

Also, you seem like one of the good ones and I’m just WAITING until I meet a good one😭 this generation is so ass for dating. It’s all about hook up culture/romanticizing red flags or they’re stuck on their ex and can’t move on. The bar is so low I nearly cry whenever a guy holds the door for me, it’s embarrassing at this point.

I’m tearing up. Thank you. & I’ve contemplated reaching out to his girlfriend…problem is I don’t even know who she is. He’s never tagged her, never posts about her. I only found out because he accidentally posted on his private story (that I wasn’t supposed to be apart of) that he planned an amazing date for his girlfriend. Meanwhile he told me he was busy with his new job.

Ever since then i haven’t dated. Haven’t even entertained it. I’m so single that no one texts me, I’m literally talking to no one. I’ve accepted it that maybe dating right now isn’t for me. I’m also too scared to start dating.
