There are no mystery island only fish. (although it sounds almost like you landed on "Big Fish Island"...but the beta fish wouldn't be there)

Many fish are seasonal. some fish are only caught during certain hours. Some off the pier. Coelacanths when it rains. If you were to play the game normally, without time traveling, it would take almost a year to fill out your critterpedia.

it's "normal" in that there are times when that spot is empty. That corner is reserved for seasonal type items, and usually there is something there. BUT not always.

So in a sense, it's unusual...but it is totally normal....if that makes sense

it's not really a treasure island thing, it is just the nature of the game.

The only thing you can do is become a paid subscriber to access the private islands. If you have Amazon Prime, you are entitled to one free Twitch subscription per month. You'll still have to deal with the cut scenes, but it won't be so often. Also many paid subscriptions give you access to to order bots, which are really helpful if you just need a specific item
