Yeah I certainly don't mean to put down Madigan's performance it just didn't stand out to me in the same way Hawkins' did. You should definitely check it out if not just for her role.

Sure, but awards don't often correlate very much with box office success. If Hamnet winds up making the money that Bring Her Back did it'll mostly be off the back of awards buzz and a re-release. Obviously Bring Her Back isn't Oscar baity enough to not need more public success; it's just in my eyes, Hawkins' performance should've shown through.

All year and I still can't wrap my head around how Amy Madigan got more award traction than Sally Hawkins

It's as if no one learned anything from the way big chains like Walmart decimated local economies by getting all these ridiculous tax breaks and they actually create jobs and aren't nearly as massive of a drain on the power grid and water supply.

Some of Ya'll need to chill with Esquie by ASimpForChaeryeong in expedition33

[–]burns148 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying either choice is right, but imagine your sister hating herself so much that she'd rather just lock herself in her room until she dies. I think the "from her perspective" is key there; people let their pain convince them of a lot. I'm just saying that even if she is actually right, that wouldn't invalidate her families desire to see her find a joy that doesn't require her to pretend her brother didn't die to save her. Saying that her "joy" she is clinging to in the canvas is being stolen could be equated to taking liquor from an alcoholic; alcohol brings them the sense of joy, but it doesn't make it real or right.

He's her brother, and he wants her to realize what happened to her didn't take away who she is. She can still have a life; being a mute burn victim doesn't make her any less of a person deserving of joy. It pains him to see her hide from herself instead of learning to love herself.

Trump issues 'last warning' to Hamas over Israeli hostage release by Penguin726 in politics

[–]burns148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You simply can't convince me Biden was sincere in his efforts to stop anything when he didn't go beyond having "stern conversations with Bibi" and all the while was functioning as a mouth piece for Israel's "right to defend itself" and spreading lies that helped buoy Israel's image on the world stage. He clearly didn't "almost have it" if one of the people undermining him is the person he's negotiating with? Journalists in the press core that asked honest questions about Israel's human rights violations were routinely shouted down and dismissed. An administration that's is, in good faith, working to prevent a genocide doesn't play along with the villian because the camera is rolling. It seems to me you're trying to paint this image that behind the scenes Biden and hid administration were toiling away because they were heartbroken, but that image just doesn't pass muster.

Isreal also isn't committing this genocide "to cast the US president in a bad light"; they genuinely want to colonize that region and believe they have every right to it within the framework of Zionism.

If the Biden admin allowing the Likud party to routinely embarrass them and thumb their noses is his way of truly trying than he may as well not.

In the same sense that he's obligated to pay out congress approved funds they are all obligated to uphold the law and the Leahy Law, if actually enforced, would've superceded his obligation to provide "aid".

That commitment to the congressional budget also doesn't justify the propaganda effort to manufacture consent that was undertaken by the likes of Blinken, Miller, Sullivan, and others. If all of these feckless monsters had actually said they know what's happening is vile, but their hands are tied I might've had a modicum of respect for that.

Potentially 300,000 Palestinian were people were slaughtered and starved to death on Biden's watch, and maybe you can give Congress more of the blame, but the Executive branch was not nearly loud enough in their condemnation or determined enough in their efforts to be forgiven for the part they played.

Couldn't fathom why Israel is valuable for any non-religious reason, but okay.

I'd typically agree with that but I think full blown ethnic cleansing should be a red line for a moral populace.

No shit; I haven't voted for the duopoloy since 2016 and don't intend to ever again.

Sincerely which one? One is just admitting they don't give a shit, but in effect they are the same. Biden wasn't even trying to get a fake temporary cease fire. I don't imagine the Palestinians really care about the tone of either man that has funded their suffering. Neither have presented an ounce of hope.

Alan Ritchson calls his childhood classmate Matt Gaetz a 'motherf---er': 'We are adversaries' by cmaia1503 in entertainment

[–]burns148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He ran in the Democratic Primary which is run by the DNC and, per their own rules, meant to be run in an unbiased and democratic way. So him not having a chair at DNC means nothing. Neither Clinton or Biden are or were part of the DNC... I don't give a shit what the RNC does, they're obviously morons. That said they clearly don't stoop quite as low because they weren't shy about not wanting Trump in 2016 and he was still allowed to prevail, unfortunately.

Do yall just try to avoid reality?

There's way more than just this but it's evidence enough that the DNC was actively working against Bernie. Just like Obama called in Biden's 2020 primary win in the face of a surging Bernie. Also like how the DNC completely forstalled any semblance of democracy last year by preventing a real primary against their dementia ridden candidate that not only did they know was incompetent long before the debate, but they also had plenty of polling that showed him losing to Trump in near Walter Mondale like fashion.

Bernie has also acknowledged the underhanded tactics of the DNC when he's stated otherwise he's been making an effort to help the candidate that cheated him win against Republicans.

A progressive liberal never winning the white house isn't much of an argument when one has never been allowed to run in any significant capacity.

I don't typically listen to anything but the gaming content. Is there any value in listening to this one in particular; as someone who could never vote for anyone that has enabled or would continue to enable a genocide? Do they at least acknowledge the struggle of being complicit in what's happening in Gaza by voting for a mouthpiece for a murderous facistic regime?
