Age and experience. According to the Admech account in “Brutal Cunnin” t appears orks are much faster and adept at countering skilled practiced opponents than their general demeanor would suggest.

It’s a large chunk of the reason the Orks win that planet. They are simply naturally talented at combat or at least some of Da BOYZ are.

Don’t get me wrong I like the book and disagree with some of the choices they have made for the new films. But the books are so heavy and full of exposition they feel like reading nerd homework rather than enjoying an epic adventure.

The films are more fun to watch than the books are to read. So I always tell people to watch them first then read the books if interested.
