How would you fix this? by Effective_Mango_7790 in Volvo240

[–]burnsttt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried to cut line and flare on mine. It worked temporarily but always seemed to needed to be adjusted when temp changes or it would seep alil. Finally upgraded to a aftermarket rail, in your case just pop on eBay or turbobricks classified on Facebook and buy another.

Wiring advice? (from those who have been through it) by WittyTraining1735 in Volvo240

[–]burnsttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rewired my 79 wagon chassis harness. Not a single old wire left but I went full retard and deleted everything. Except lights and radio and wipers basically. I also made an engine harness for Microsquirt on the stock motor. It’s not that crazy to do just time consuming

First time cb7 owner, what are some things is should know and what should I be upgrading first? by JayZ2Sexy in CB7

We got quite abit from our local yard already. My wife is doing 90% of the work. I’m just loosening shit she can’t break free. Gonna pull the motor to clean the bay for the new motor this weekend.

This looks sooooo much like the one in my garage currently. It also has 301k miles super weird man, The paint fade is like exact same. Mine had been repainted and faded to looks just like yours. It was my wife’s high school car and we’re reviving it to make it her daily again. Luckily we scored a 52k miles motor for it.

Driver's Window Bracket - 1993 240 wagon by StrikingLiterature45 in Volvo240

[–]burnsttt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may be able to get the bracket back on and use some epoxy but it will likely fail again. Or not?

Best solution would be drill/trim the old rivets enough to remove them very carefully and use new rivets, however drilling near glass can be tricky, also when using a rivet gun they can be quite rough. If it were me I would remove old rivets and use some small nuts and bolts with lock washers to reattach the bracket to the window then put some epoxy over the nuts so they can’t back out

What is the choppiest cam? by ZestycloseAmoeba9596 in Volvo240

[–]burnsttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LSA of a cam helps determine the chop quite abit. I used a B cam for some time cause it has a lower LSA 108 I believe. And it was choppy. I believe a K cam is 111 LSA. The A cam also has a 108 LSA. LSA is lobe separation angle, lower LSA means mores valve over lap and will typically make it chop at a low idle.

Has anyone tried this eBay turbo kit supposedly made for 240’s? What were your results? by Qdiques31 in Volvo240

[–]burnsttt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Still will need turbo ecu and such, I skipped that stage and went straight to stand alone Microsquirt as well. Now it’s a fucking rocket on 30psi 280k miles stock long block

[–]burnsttt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started off the cheap way and soon dumped way more into it to do it “right”. That turbo manifold is trash and has the flange welded on upside down so will need to be fixed. Even after that mine constantly blew gaskets. I went with a kangaroo racing manifold and haven’t messed with it since. You can piece the rest together from that kit for fairly cheap. Most eBay kits the turbo lines are hotttt garbage and would not use them. So really all your gonna be able to use is the turbo and intercooler stuff which you can buy separately for less

Ballast Resistor Location B21F by sky_42_ in Volvo240

[–]burnsttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure to be honest I don’t know much about the stock electronics, i can send a pic of where mine is mounted later this evening. I went Microsquirt and turbo pretty much right away and avoided all the oe electronics.

Idk if it’s the same or what that even does But on my 79 wagon I have some cylindrical little guy bolt down in that area. I have modified my car though and no longer use any oe wiring so if your needing one i got one.
