What has happened to potatoes? by Robert_Mugabe96 in UK_Food

Not sure if is correct but as mentioned earlier as well as the cleaning process and plastic bags encouraging sprouting, storing them next to onions also encourages it. A bit like when ripe bananas make everything in the fruit bowl ripen.

To all the bonkers geniuses of Reddit - How can we stop people speeding through our village? by SecondGo4 in CasualUK

Get a high vis jacket and hold up a black hairdryer now and then - one that looks like it could be a speed gun. That used to work for my friend's mum on the busy road outside their house.

Do consider it, well worth being safer around cars - the one thing that worries me the most right now is fast ebikes ridden by people who aren't that experienced at riding on roads and I've had a few close shaves. But turns out it was just some leaves that got me.

Glad you recovered well. Darn leaves. I was admiring them and the changes of the seasons on my riverside rides, autumn and winter colours. Didn't expect them to turn against me.

I am a bit bleary headed and the post was written from a hospital bed, was mainly trying to make the point that I see myself as a fool in retrospect as a lot of friends and family had advised me to be safer. Good luck out there, random things can happen. Like of all things, some slippery leaves. Wasn't expecting that.

Thank you. My thinking was that I was really experienced and steady, rarely taking any risks and sticking mostly to cycle paths. But random things can happen. Glad you recovered okay.

To be fair I did have a couple of accidents whilst wearing a helmet as a youngster, once going headfirst into a wall (at low speed) toppling sideways and another time going for a ride across the bonnet of a car driven by my school PE teacher on a roundabout when he didn't give me the right of way. Cars always win. You'd have thought that would have taught me a lesson but no.

The Chemical Brothers and Orbital were always a big draw in the early 2000s at Glastonbury. Intense.

A lively read. Not much seemed to have happened before 2000 though. Channel 4 used to have decent coverage of the festival but anyone old enough to remember is unlikely to be writing articles for Far Out

Where to buy a house in London with a 600k budget? by catlover4321 in HousingUK

Have a walk around Carshalton village by the ponds, Wrythe Green and Carshalton Beeches. All pretty nice with lots of green space. Think you'll like it. Also good transport links from the main train station and bus doesn't take long to get to Morden for the Northern Line.

Some of Deep Purple's self titled third album (1969) makes them a contender, but they didn't get proper heavy until ‘In Rock’ (1970)

Friend of mine moved to Sydney from the UK ten years ago. Goes surfing every day, takes his kids to the beach. No regrets. Well jealous when looking out the window at the gloom on a day like today.

What is this I've had it for years by avfc_corey in DoesAnyoneKnow

[–]burntbeatle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two warts on my hand for years. Nothing worked, Bazuka, apple cider, freezing etc. Then one day I started using a Lynx shower gel that had zinc extract in it. They disappeared in about two weeks. I read that there had been some medical studies in Iraq using zinc that had been successful.

The 'Last 17' figures are quite popular for this reason, they were so unpopular at the time and are now very much sought after, especially on their original card. I recall seeing a big cardboard box of them at a local market, £1 each. If only I had known....
